Noise while idle

I just purchased a 2002 Explorer XLT with the V8 engine. There seems to be some type of rattling noise like something loose. It appears to be coming from the front passenger side near the engine. It disappears when you rev the engine or when you start to drive. However the noise gets louder when you engage the AC. At this point it is irrating. I have a 60 days warranty and would like some advice.

Thanks,
Steve

Take a piece of heater hose or garden hose about three feet long. Hold one end tight to your ear and move the other end around till you find the source of the noise.

Things that make noise on the pass side:

EGR manifold tube - goes from the exhaust manifold to the EGR valve.
Exhaust gas manifold cracked or leaking
Bad tensioner pulley on serpentine belt
Bad idler pulley on serpentine belt
Anything loose.
