What is the likly cause of this in an 01 pathy?

Must have gotten that read at Autozone since they gave you the wrong description:

P1110 Intake Valve Timing Control, LH Bank

Pretty common on that year.

what should I figure that will cost me?

No idea since my 97 doesn't have that part. You might want to join into the thread below this one on P1135, same sensor just different bank.

thats what it might be on your 97, but not on a 2001. the code for Intake Valve Timing Control, LH Bank P1140

Didn't say it was for my 97 since it doesn't exist for that year. You're confusing P1140 and P1110, completely different errors. Nissan codes are the following:

P1110 Intake Valve Timing Control, LH Bank
P1135 Intake Valve Timing Control, RH Bank 2
P1140 Intake Valve Timing Control Position Sensor, LH Bank 1
P1145 Intake Valve Timing Control Position Sensor, RH Bank 2

His error is P1110 which does exist for a 2001.
