Drivers Seat Track Issue

Hey all,

I own a 2000 and until yesterday the drivers seat was working totally fine. I'm a little short so I generally have it up pretty far. I was visiting with my mother last night, and she asked to borrow it because hers was unavailable. When I went to leave this morning, the seat would not slide forward. Something is obviously obstructing it, but I cannot figure out what it it. I attempted to take the seats out, and with a little finesse, got the front 2 bolts out no problem. The 2 bolts holding the back part of the seat, however, don't want to come out w/o an electric bolt remover, which i do not own. Before I shell out $$ to bring it to someone, wanted to know if anyone had ideas for this poor little owner. I need to drive my truck!!

Thanks so much!!

The rear bolts go through the floor and the ends are exposed to the underbody and might have rusted a bit. You just need some brute force to get 'em loose, couldn't hurt to make sure the ends are clean from below though.

9 times out of 10 the cause of the stuck seat is a dime in the track...

I have this issue twice, and each time fixed it by removing a penny that fell into the slot. So far I didn't have to remove the seat. I just kept working the seat back and forth while looking in the track near the console until I spotted the little bugger and grabbed it with a pair of tweezers I keep in the truck for such occasions. There are some previous entries about it in the vast logs of this Xterra site as well.

It was a quarter the two times it happened to me. Had no problem getting the seat out.
