I recently noticed oil deposits forming around my spark plugs. I asked a local mechanic, he stated that my valve cover bolts might be loose. Is this what may be causing the deposits? If so what should I torque them to?

not sure if thats the cause, im sure you could tell if it was leaking. cover bolts are 89 in/lbs, thats inch lbs not foot pounds. you really only need to tighten them snug. i would replace the gasket.

I torqued the bolts, they were pretty loose. This did the trick. No more oil all over plugs.

Thanks :)
