My Pathfinder got this code (error2) the other day on the display whenever I try to play a cd, the first time I tried it it made a funky sound and wouldn't do anything now it takes the disc but that's the eextent of it.

Hey guys,

Your 6 disk is shot. There is a gear that commonly breaks that moves the laser. I took mine apart thinking I could replace it... now I have a Pioneer that plays mp3 cds and has the capability of utilizing the steering wheel controls. Time to move on.

my 01 has the error 2 code and no longer works. I talked with Nissan, BOSE and Clarion (they make the deck, wherein the problem lies) Nissan and Clarion offered to fix it of course for a fee. I am not choosing this option since the previous owner warned me that there were problems with the 6 cd disc (deck was replaced twice under warranty). I would like to replace the deck and keep the BOSE speakers. I have received different advice, some say need to bypass bose amp others say just need a adapter cable. Can someone please advice best solution.

I just changed my radio ( not bose but works the same way ).
They use a non-standard voltage to got between the main unit
and the Amp ( in the rear driver side wall). If you buy a standard
unit with a built in amp you need to lower the volatge.

or I just bypassed the rear amp by cutting and shorting the in->out.

If you need the adapter you can find the name by putting your
car type and looking at www.crutchfield.com, they also sell the normal
wiring adapter.

I also got more info by searching www.the12volt.com

This is a common problem with Factory Bose/Clarion 6-disc changers.
The gears to load and switch CDs are made of plastic that will eventually get
brittle and crack or strip out.
You may want to take a look at how Nissan and Clarion will handle this
problem:

Nissan Pathfinder 01 - 6 Disc CD Changer - HELP (http://forum.ecoustics.com/cgi-bin/bbs/show.pl?4/137782)

I have also sent emails to corporate and working with the Better
Business Bureau and the State Attorney General's Office for a
resolution.

Yeah i feel your pain . Nissan can send them out to get fixed , it's around 275.00 and your without a radio for 4 to 6 weeks. Witch to me is a no brainier , when you can get a aftermarket radio that does all the same things the factory one does and for less of the repair price , with out 4 to 6 weeks of no entertainment.
