Boost psi

Being new to this forum I have gathered a lot of useful information. My question to you guys, is what boost psi should I run on my 99' Sunfire. 2.2 engine (non-ecotech) with a magnaflow exaust on it, the rest of the engine is stock. My buddy wants to run 8 psi and he said that 8psi wouldnt hurt the engine any, but reading your posts has me a little scepticle about that. I was thinking about running 6psi and think that would be safer for my engine. The car itself only has about 45k miles on it and runs fantastic. Also I was wondering if the stock tranny would be able to handle the boost.

6-7 Psi with stock internals. Damn you though. A 99 with lower miles than mine. I thought i was good with only 55K

yup 6-7 PSI is about all you want to do on stock internals. You can also use the Injectors from a 2.4L engine to compensate for fuel.

Thank you for your information, and yes it was a great find for me. I bought it at 28k miles a year ago. I bought a 255 fuel pump for it as well as a FMVso i think that 7 psi will be just fine. Thank you so much for the information and I will be arund.
