I just bought an '04 I4 Xterra at $14k. I am extremeley happy with it but I am also interested in doing some light off-roading. Is this possible and if so what kind of stuff can I do?

The 4-cylinder is 4x2 only, recreational "off-roading" isn't really something it's meant for. Sure it'll get you down a rutted road, but without 4WD and low-range transfer case gearing it's not going to do well on a real off-road trail. Be sure to go with others that have 4x4, gear to get you out of trouble, and patience, and remember that spinning your tires doesn't get you anywhere and only tears up the trail.
