The cigarette lighter unit stopped working in my 1996 pathfinder, I checked fuses and everything, I dont think I was looking in the right fuse box cause I saw nothing for interior power or nothing like that, so I checked all fuses, their all good, Is there a trick here, something I am missing, cause I bough a new unit and it still doesnt work, I dont know what to do??? Help.

Actually - I'm hoping to find a reply to this message, because I have a 95 Pathfinder. I'm a non-smoker, so I've never used the cigarette lighter for anything (I bought my car new). However, recently I bought an accessory for my vehicle which requires the cigarette lighter, and much to my chagrin, it doesn't work. Not only that - but I tried to look for the fuse for the lighter...and not only can I not find it - I can't find the fuse box. I checked the manual, and the only fuse box that the manual refers to is the one under the hood which controls the outer electrics, like the headlights, etc. I've looked all around the inside, under the dash, etc., and I canNOT find the fuse box. Seeing as you found it on a 96, could you let me know where you found it - so at least I can try to get a bearring on where I can start to try to fix this? Thanks!

First off fuse box is behind small panel by your left knee.Power comes from ignition switch {low current} to energize acessory relay.Relay inturn supplies power {higher current} to cig/airconditioner fuse {15a third from left top row} then to cig. lighter. If your heater blower works , you are ok from acessory relay to fuse box.{blower fuses are fed by acessory relay also}If 15a fuse is ok you must take a test light or voltmeter and probe cig. socket. What is missing? Ground or power.12 volt positive is centre contact of socket.
