quick question. i just recently lifted my x 3 " (suspesion), so im needing to get bigger tires and better rims. while shopping around, the guy at a local tire store said that sinse ill be off roading with it in mud and stuff, i need to go with crome rims???? he said brushed wont work... anyone got any input about this? also, can anyone recommend a good rim and tire package that looks good on the yellow xterra's. im planning on going with a 32 11.5 r15 thanks

Not to encourage posting in the wrong forums, but here's a reply. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! That tire guy is either stupid, or lying. Either way you got bad info, so don't do business there.

Personally I think Silver steel Xterra wheels look good (and they fit right). Steel Xterra wheels painted or powdercoated black either look "great" or "terrible" depending on who you ask. They don't seem to get much middle ground in responses. It's just what look you're going for. There obviously are the other model year wheels as well.

You're gonna have compatability problems with most of the aftermarket wheels.

Chrome looks like crap on an Xterra no matter what pattern the wheel has.

I'll move this post for you to Tires and Wheels for you.

thanks for the response schludwiller. sorry for posting in the wrong section. the rims im looking at are the american racing burst (polished) 15x8. i want to put 32x11.50x15 tires on it.... ive seen some steel wheels that look good on the xterras... but most of them dont really grab my attention. ill tell you the price does though... i just lefted my x 3 inches and want something that is gonna have a good "stance" if ya know what i mean. im alittle confused on the offset though. these rims have a -19 offset... from what im gathering is that if it hade a 0 offset than the rim would come out 1/2 inch over stock sinse stocks are 7" wide plus the negative offset would make them come out almost 3/4 inch.. Am i understanding that right??? with this rim sand tire choice how much trimming do you think? plus, do you have a good recomendation on the tire... i do plan to do a good amount of offroading in the mud, but 70% of the time ill be on the road. thanks for the help

If you start screwing with non-standard offsets, you're going to put extra stress on the vehicle suspension. You already have a lift, which puts your wheels out of factory alignment for the most part. Putting wrong offset wheels is going to compound things. Broken tie rods would also probably be in your future if you offroad.

There are lots of tire reviews here in this section and TireRack has many as well. My next set is going to be the GoodYear MTR, but it will be my offroading tire and I'll switch back to my BFG AT's on separate stock (steel :D) wheels when daily driving. The compound is soft and I've heard good reviews except for wear.

32's will fit with minimal trimming with stock offset. There are lots of descriptions of offset here and on the net as well.

Hey Lance 3113 did you put a suspension lift or body lift on. Let me know I have a 2004 xterra looking to lift but cant find any kits any info is appriciated.By the way my x is yellow and if it were me the black rockcrawler wheels look tough on there and they come in 10 inch wide. go on 4x4parts.com there are many pics of xterras lifted with those wheels.
