Help! Protege Won't Start

Have a '93 Protege 1.8L DOHC ... Car suddenly died while driving over a year ago - has been sitting in the yard since. Look to be getting good spark .. replaced fuel pump as it appeared to be bad after several checks. Car will turn over, but won't start ... what am I missing? What things could make the car die while driving? Would a bad distributor cap or rotor make a car die while driving? As you can tell .. I'm not much of a mechanic .. any help appreciated!

Well, if it just dies right away while driving, did you notice and shudder or jolts as it quit or did just went up straight and died with no sounds or vibrations?

Thanks for responding ..The car had been idling rough for about a month or so .. the timing belt had just been replaced about two months prior. My wife was driving the car when it died .. she says it "choked" a little and then died as if the ignition had been turned off. I've checked the timing belt .. it seems to be fine.
