Problem in 4wd

When i engage the 4wd drive i get a thumping sound and some viberations from driver side front wheel. I was wonder if anyone knew what was cause it. I have a 2001 xterra.

Sounds like a question that belongs in the drivetrain section to me... :banghead:
You've probably got a bad hub. The one that makes the noise is most likely NOT the one that's defective. That, or you've got a problem with the CV shaft. If you swap your hubs from one side to the other and the problem goes with it, it's a hub problem. Take off the 6 screws holding the outer hub on, and use snap ring pliers to remove the snap ring on the axle shaft, then remove the hub internals as one piece (plus the "toothed" washer) and then reassemble on the other side.
