How To Program A Keyless Remote??

I have a Nissan XTerra 2000....My remote got wet and rusted out, I bought one on ebay (same model number) but don't know how to program it properly. Can anyone help out ? Something like insert key 7 times until lights flash then press the button but doesn't work......Any help would be appreciated!! THANKS!

First step should include locking the doors with the driver's door switch, otherwise it's correct.
