Seat Belt Light

Greetings....

I have a '01 Xterra, 5-spd, v-6, 4wd that the Driver's side "Fasten Seat Belt" light will not go out. I've made sure the seat belt is locked and checked the connection under the seat. I looked on the fuse panel, but could not see which fuse went to that circuit.

I had it in the shop last week to replace the window regulators and now this happens. Makes you go...hmmmm.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I got tired of looking at that light when I cruise around town with no seat belt, so I just disconnected it. GONE!

Ummmm...that really doesn't answer my question.

That dummy light has no use other than a reminder to buckle up. No safety sensitive functions(ABS,AIR BAGS) are effected by it being on. If your tired of looking at it, unplug the connector. If you feel that will not do for you, then buy the new latch assembly from the dealer for $100 and be done with it. The circuit in the latch is obviously stuck closed.

Let's see...$100 to a dealer, or more beer? Yep, I unplugged it.

Thanks for the idea.
