2004 Nissan Pathfinder - Cornerlamp Socket

I was wondering... has anyone ever changed the cornerlamp socket to higher wattages? My wattage is stock 21 watts but I bought a PIAA 27 watts Xtreme White (7443 model #) for my clear cornerlamp... do I/need to change the socket to higher wattages? Please help!
