Broken oil level dip stick !!!

Dear friends, one of my friend has a mazda protege. He had an oil change today and the guy over there inserted the tranny dip stick into the engine oil dip stick slot and broke it inside. My friend is really worried about it, and wondering if it will hurt the engine. Does anyone has any sugesstion or experience regarding this. Any help will be appreciated.
