I have a 99 Disco I. It doesn't have the jump seats but when I bought it I told my wife it could be a 7 seater, that way I did't have to buy a minivan:headshake . When I called the dealer they told me that if its never had jump seats it never will. Can 3rd row seats be retro-fitted to a disco that never had jump seats?

I know this is a reply to my own post but I have done a little leg work and have come up with my own answers.
One would think that the body of a car is essentially all the same and then options are installed if they are wanted. For example I don't have rear A/C in my disco but by removing the panel I could see that the wiring was already in place. What I also learned by removing the panels is there are no mounting brackets for rear jump seats.
I was told previously by a Land Rover dealer that if the disco never had jump seats it never will. I thought they were saying this for liability purposes because if they were installed incorrectly after-market they wouldn't want to be liable. Truth is the factory removed that liabilty by making the body styles fundamentally different.
I now need to find a disco SE7 (in my price range)or else get a mini-van, SUCK!

Peter,
I don't know if this will help because of what you said about the moutning brackets, but maybe if you called this company up they could give you some ideas of how you could retrofit it. Good luck with it, I'll keep looking too. We retrofitted rear inward facing seats in our Defender and it worked out pretty well. Needless to say, it was much easier in a D90 than it would be in a Disco.

After doing more research the jump seats can be added. Cbass gave a link above that provides seats and mounting brackets. I also spoke to another individual at www.discountbritishparts.com that also said it could be done and the kit comes with a 7 page instruction manual on how to install them for a small fee of $1,300. After asking this guy a lot of questions I found out it does take some drilling into the body of car and creating slots for the brackets to come through the paneling. More importantly I don't have to get a mini-van Thanks for the interest!
