Alternator Problems

Word from my mechanic is that my alternator will heat up when he plugs it in.

This is the third alternator he has put in the car since I started having problems. The first two were rebuilt so it was figured that it was the alternator that was causing the problem. The latest was a brand new alternator.

Any ideas what might be causing the alternator to overheat like that?
