'93 Diamante alarm problem

Hello everyone,

My alarm often goes off whenever I open the door on my '93 D even though I didn't lock it when I left it. All the other doors are locked, but not the driver side door.

The dealer said they fixed it last year when they "say" they replaced the door switch, but I don't think they really did anything except charge me.

The electric door lock actuator has to be cycled for the alarm to shut off, either by using the remote or by locking/unlocking the door manually with the key.

The shop manual says there should be continuity between both leads from the switch whether the switch is on or off, and that is the case with this switch. This doesn't make sense to me. What is this switch supposed to do?

Has anyone had a similar problem? Does anyone have a solution? I can replace the switch (for real, this time!) but it seems to be working correctly per the manual.

thanks for any ideas

Pat
ps - I tried removing the "dedicated" alarm fuse but the alarm horn works anyway. Does anyone know what this fuse if really for? Also, my shop manual points to a location for an alarm relay (next to/behind the air intake filter) but there is no relay in that location. Does anyone know where the alarm relay really is?
