Hey guys, just found this fourm and was stunned by the fact that its active!
Just for starters, I would like to say that i absolutely love my truck. I have had my share of problems. (Doesnt everyone?) My factory alternator went out a few months back and i had to get it replaced, i have a sinking feeling that they didnt use a high enough voltage alternator as my electrical system seems... well... limited. If i turn on my lights and say, the rear defroster (Those defrosters suck up alot of juice) my headlights dim slightly. Not enough to warrant a problem but significantly enough to notice.

Im planning to modify my 98 Rodeo for several reasons, primarily to make it cooler. Heh. (Im 20 years old, im allowed to play hotrod dammit!)

Currently the only thing i have really done is remove the air filter box and attach a K&N filter to my intake right after the oxygen sensor. Im planning to setup a full cold air intake system and put a new exhaust on the truck. With the K&N im using only premium fuel (93 Octane) so i can get the biggest bang for my buck. Im trying to find a cold air intake system that will fit, i beleive one of the Weapon-R filter/intake tubes will fit and work nicely.

Another addition im looking at is upgrading my ECU chip for a better air/fuel mix ratio. The one im looking at is on jetchip.com.
Im looking at adding a bolt on exhaust tip for better exit airflow but i dont know much about them. Is a exhaust tip going to significantly help in any way or just make it sound like a ricer?

Other projects include finishing my upgrade of the sound system. Currently i have a 45x4Watt Pioneer Deck running (I belive) the stock speakers. I plan to add in an amplifier to run the 15" Pioneer 450W sub i have sitting in the back, but am kinda weary about installing it. (I have never done any of this) My last job was a hardware integration specialist (Computers) and ive been zapped more times than I would prefer to recollect.

Currently i know i need new tires and i was wondering what i should use.
I do a fair amount of offroad but I primarily drive in the city. I need something that will handle the tough stuff but not wear down obscenely fast from driving on the (crappy) streets around here.

If anyone has any comments, ideas or suggestions please reply. I will be stalking this board for the next few days so i should respond in a somewhat timely manner.

That performance chip on jets website says its for a 3.1L engine. Im new to Isuzu but i thought the newer rodeos got 3.2L engines?? An exhaust tip wont do anything but either make noise or look different. The real problem with a stock exhaust is the restrictive cat. converter, muffler, and the non mendrel bent pipes. Personally I would replace the cat. with a high flow model and replace the exhaust pipe from it back and the muffler. Atleast then it would help a little.

As far as tires go I like the BFG mud terrain A/T i think their called. I cant say ive ever owned a set but they had good ratings at tirerack.com

Check through that site, they rate all the tires for performance in different situations and also rate the life of the tires.
