yeup, beat b16 swapped civics all the time in my gsr.

unless he's got his motor built farther than i/h/e/cams, then ur going to win if ur ATLEAST an even driver w/ him.

did he spesify what kind of jdm b16?

i think a b16b would be a good race, but just a jdm b16a would not put up much of a fight

b16b would be more than the gsr could handle.

more power w/ less weight and an lsd tranny on top of that.

shouldn't be a problem at all for the civic then.

but like u said, if its the b16a, then...bye bye civic (unless he can REALLY drive better than u)

i dont know about that good driver thing, i just beat a 00 si in my 91 integra, and i cant get close to GSR's i say the GSR would kill an si any day.

adn i say that the b16b would be a good fight because they were built withthe intention of being put in hatches, not coupes, so the wieght would really restrict the b16b with it's seriouse lack of torque

gsr = very low, low end torque. very high end power.

i say if its really as built as it sounds, by the time you think of pressing the acclerator, hes probablly half way down the 1/4 mile.(exageration^^)

but you will catch up to him.

GOOD RACE = 75% fast car + 30% good driver

thats 105%

the gsr has more lowend than the b16a. both peak torque in the high 7000 rpm range w/ the gsr having 128, compared to 116 for the b16a.

si's weigh more than his coupe will, and aren't too fast of cars w/ out a good driver.

most run mid 15's w/ i/h/e (normal driver), and if that guy couldn't drive, it was easily a high 15-low 16 second car.

SI's are BY FAR the most over-rated honda's out there...

hell naw ya'll are trippin. a jdm b16b in a dx ek hatch will jump on any 94 gsr. come on were talkin about the civic type r here boogie. 15 more ponies than a geezer plus a fraction of the weight. hmmm...i'll take the hatch by atleast a car and a half.

hrmmm...maybe u missed the fact that we're talking about the b16a.

i already covered that the b16b would beat the gsr.

plz read all the posts before making one.

saves the misunderstandings...

Civic with a B16a, you can make a 1 second improvement over your quarter-mile time without adding HP. Things like tires, weight and skill are all factors. A Civic with a b16a, can lose to an identical civic with the same engine, but better tires, better driver and maybe an LSD. It's not just "he has this car and this engine, can I beat him?"

My point further proven: my dad has a 91 CRX with a 170HP D16 non-vtec, it can easily do a low 13 quarter mile...but if we take out that engine and only the engine, and put it in a stock CRX, the CRX will do close to mid 14's. It can do low 13 because it is very light, and the transmission is built...and it has Toyo RA-1a. It's a road racing car, just in case you're wondering. :)

i have a stock 2000 gsr and i have beat my freind with a jdm B16a in a civic many times (he also has CAI and exhaust....but it is also a four door, so there is quite a weight diff.

ok, here is the deal

JDM B16A in 96 civic = win.

96 civic = OBD2

the OBD2 JDM B16A would be the SiR-II engine, which is 116ft-lbs and 170HP, and the civic will most assuredly weigh less than a GS-R.

You have beaten him? by how much... he does not have exhaust or cold air intake. he has a ram air intake and some ecu work and seventeen inch rims. that is if you are talking about seth's ride.
