Keyless keypad - not remote - problem!!!

I just bought my 93 Maxima and it came with it's owner's manual stating a master code. I'm wondering if it's not the right manual because I can't get the thing to reprogram to a new personal code... I've tried the sticking the key in the ignition thing - all attempts have failed - any advice?????

I just sold my 91 Maxima, the code for the keypad is on the control box, whick is located in the passenger side kick panel. You enter that number, always press the (C) key first, then enter the master number, I believe it is a 7 digit number, then follow the instructions on entering the code you wish. Good Luck
