I put an APC intake on my car today... Its all good except it made my car loud as hell.. now i usually wouldnt mind, but its not one steady sound when im driving. its real low then itll get high then low again, it seems like it ok though.. i just want to know if i can make the sound steadier or if its even supposed to make the sound at all....???

intakes make that sound, its just the noise of more air flowing into your car, it will never really be a steady sound. the pitch of the noise is always going to change, thats kinda like saying you think your car should make the same noise at 1000 rpm, then at 7000 rpm, of course the noise is going to change

The filter also plays in the intake tone. My boy has a foam filter, not sure what brand, but it sounds a little throaty compared to a normal cone filter.

I had an APC intake on my car it was pretty loud. One of the loudest but deepest also, intakes I've heard. I tossed the filter that came with it after about 2 years (it was all dirty, and they AREN'T reuseable like others) and replaced it with a A'PEXi power flow filter (which IS reuseable and washable). Let me tell you, if you think you're intake is loud, slap the A'PEXi filter on that I have and the APC one will seem tame in volume comparison. The A'PEXi filter also seemed to make the car a little more responsive than with the APC filter. Anywho, I'm still using the pipe that came with the APC kit, just with the different filter on the end of it now.
