Erratic idle problems

I seem to have a problem with my Acura (an '87 integra RS). I bought it with an erratic idle problem thinking that I could fix it, but to no avail so far. When I start it after it has sat for a while (or just plain cold), the idle will jump up and down. As it warms up the time between jumps will lengthen and eventually stop. If I shift while the idle is doing it's crazy thing, the car shifts so hard (automatic by the by), that I honestly think that the engine and tranny are going to rip themselves clear of the car. I checked for loose, not connected, or broken vaccuum lines already. Any ideas?

try adjusting the idle screw on the throttle body, that might help. BTW, if it's shifting really hard, your bands and shit might go soon. I really beat on my auto tranny in my 4g civic and eventually I didn't have a reverse. But tranny's are cheap, got a JDM D15B tranny for $150 and they aren't hard to swap out either

Did your check engine light go on. Sounds like the coolant temp sensor isnt changing the timing or fuel. Or the IAT or some other sensor that reports the correct temp to the ECU for colder running. Or you could have an old fashion vacuum leak but the idle would jump all the time.

Don't adjust the idle by the idle screw on the throttle body. I did that and than found out from a master technician at my work that your supposed to never do it. Your supposed to do it through the computer to change idle. But yes also check that mass air regulator plug too. could be it.
