Someone Help!!! My 89 Olds Will Just Stall Whenever And Wherever. I Changed The Fuel Pump, The Fuel Filter, The Mass Air Flow Sensor And It Still Stalls. Under The Passenger Side Dash I Hear A Clicking Noise Coming From An Electronic Module Or Something. Could This Be The Problem?? I Hear It When Im Driving And After It Stalls. I Dont Know If That Is The Problem Either. Someone Please Help, This Is Frustrating. Thank U

It is necessary to test things before replacing. Not doing so causes needless headaches. This situation sounds to me like a MAF sensor. You might try disconnecting this unit. If the engine's performance improves, you have likely located the source of the problems. Testing will confirm this. This sensor creates a square wave output whose frequency depends on the air flow. There are times when it makes a mistake, sending the computer into convulsions. If tapping on the sensor causes the engine to stumble, replace it. Ray

My 92 Oldsmobile 88 Royale is having similar problems. I have a little trouble starting it cold or hot sometimes. I need to crank the engine over a few times before it starts. New plugs, wires, coil packs, water pump, and fuel filter. The car has about 130,000 miles on it. When slowing down or idling sometimes it will just shut off. It seems to be a pretty intermittent problem so far. Some days it will be hard starting but will not stall at all. I am going to try scanning for codes however I don't think the SES light comes on before the engine stalls.
So, I will check the MAF sensor like the previous post said. I was reading through other posts and someone suggested a crank sensor possibly to a similar problem. Does this sound like symptoms of a faulty crank sensor as well? A friend of mine thinks this sounds like an
Injector(S) that are going out.. Thanks for any help.

I also own an eighty-eight and have a stalling problem. I have replaced the ignition switch and had everything tested. My mechanic says that he receives and error message stating there some kind of faulty spark problem. We also found that a check engine light comes on displaying a crank or cam sensor problem but my mechanic says that this is not the cars problem although we can't find the problem.
The car will stall and if you wait for 10-20 minutes, the car will start for you. Any help or suggestions?
Thanks

Ok have the same symptoms, starts fine when cold, dies intermittently for no rhyme or reason. Have replaces Cam and Crank sensor, Plugs & wires, Timing belt and sensor. Check engine light still comes on and at times it still stalls. Will not start after it stalls for some time (10-20min).
Now for the twist.
When it is in its no start mode, I can take the wiring harness from the ignition to the array of sensors and SHAKE the bageebees out of it (up and down with moderate force a few inches from the ignition module) while the engine is turning over and it will start. It will not necessarily start if you shake it and then try to start. But is has always started with in a few seconds.
Can not figure out why was wondering if any of you who have the same problem if this works for you.
FYI
Now I am looking to replace this harness but that has started to become a challenge in finding one
