sold a 2005 Hyundai Accent to one of my employees recently, well everything was fine when he came to work, but then driving home, the speedometer no longer working. check all the fuses all are good, speedsensor on top of tranny is tight, didnt take time to pull and push back in..

Is there a speedo cable, or is it all just sensors.. will probably have OBD scan done in the morning, just seeing if any one has had this problem beside hitting the instrument cluster and see if it still works..

thanks in advance

well just got a call.. after checking fuses and wiggling wires.. it works.. so not a cable, is the speed sensor the larger multi wire sensor on the top center of tranny, or is it the 2 wire closer to driver side tire? not fun when someone has to drive in multi speed locations and not use to what the rpm is for an approximate speed.. oh well it is no longer my gas saving vehicle..

If it was a speed sensor, you would have other problems than just a bad Speedo cluster.
The ECU/PCU wants speed info for shifting + ABS too!

Hello,
is the odometer still counting?
if yes ,so it is a common mechanicale damage in speedo motor inside the dash,
if odometer also not counting and speedo not move ,so it's a sensor problem,
anyway the sensor has 3 wires (+),(-) and speedo wire which goes to dash..
