My headlight motor works fine until you turn the light off and it makes this grinding sound for like 5 seconds. I don't think i need to replace the motor because they come up and down just fine. Any suggestions???

Well, you have two motors.......is it one side that is making the noise?

The gear is the nutorious weak link the motors dont usually go bad they are beefy if you you plan to keep the car get the one on the link i sent WELL WORTH IT or if you want cheap you can find plastic on ebay but they don't last long either way the link has great instrucions.

I had to replace the gears inside the motor drive housings. when it makes that
sound, it is the stripping of the nylon or plastic gears inside the housing.
the worm gear has stripped the plastic gear. after replacing the plastic gear, it happened again and i finally went on ebay and found a brass replacement gear and have not had the problem since. replacing those gears are a pain but when you take out the motors, pay attention to which way the mounting bolts go. 1 goes one way and 2 go the other way. if you don't get them right, they will catch on the linkage when you turn on your lights. Very important to clean all the old glue off the gear housing when you take them apart and replace with new 2 part epox. I did mine 3 times to get them right.
