Oh la la! I know what would look good parked next to that on the same shelf!
Looks very nice so far - hope it will be ready for display at Le Mans 2011 (or Le Mans Classic 2012!!!).

Hi Dan,

There's nothing wrong with either (a) another GT40 or (b) another 1/8 project! That's a very impressive piece of work - wow! I've started looking through the WIP - the body pattern is fantastic on it's own, and I really like the shots of the rear suspension: 1/8 balljoints, mmm...! I'll have to spend some time going through the rest of it - I'm sure there's plenty to learn from in there.

All the best,

SB

dan,

i've been meaning to reply in your french forum, but kept shying away. my french has been out of use for 20 years now, except for the annual trip to le mans. i have been watching your progress for a long time and am always amazed at what you do. i think i have saved every pic you posted (in your threads about this from several forums) for refernence on how to properly build a model. i'm only lacking the tools and probably the skills to do something like that, but wow, this is an amazing build. excellent job.
what actually impressed me the most is that you are seemingly using the real materials for most parts. that really adds to the realism. and i have to agree with your friends in your forum - sometimes it's only lacking the sound to feel like this is actually the real car!

I have just spent an hour looking through the WIP thread, absolutely awesome skills, and dedication to the art of car building.

There is nothing one could say to describe the attention to detail apart from, OMG!!!!!

thanks a lot for that link. i had been looking for information on the mirage cars, especially the dashboard area, for a long time. and that page just has one on there as well. incredible. i wish i had that link about half a year ago, back when we were still working on preparing the (3d) models for the 1967 gt sportscar mod for GPL. ah well. i'll save the references anyway :bigthumb:
as for your work, again it's genious. i love the idea of using the lathe to get the ribbon for the tubing. seeing it now makes you slap your forhead muttering "obvious" but coming up with that idea in the first place, wow. :)

This is such an inspiring build! I am really enjoying your updates. I work in 1/24 scale so it is really hard for me to get a true grasp on how big the finished model will be.

All the best,
