I'm loving this project, question, did this start out life as a kit available to buy or has it been entirely built from scratch, I realise the body you molded yourself but was it taken from another 1/8th scale body?
Whatever it is it looks awesome, great work.

Dan, those mirrors look superb, especially if that is your first attempt at white metal moulding!!!
I tried it a lot of WM moulding last year and it took me ages to get good results!
Are you using high temp RTV silicon - it looks like the ordinary stuff to me? Do you have a good source of white metal In France?
All the best with it! :o)

Hi and thanks guys!
To LeeABC, it is an "HR RTV" but with the same color...
For the WM, I don't know if it is a "good source", but it's mine:

There's so much to like about this, Dan. The lamp lenses, mirror housings, etc are simple enough parts on paper, but still require a lot of thought and planning to actually make! Was the windscreen made as a moulded part, or as a flat piece curved into shape? Either way, it looks really good on the car.
I have nothing but admiration for anyone working with brass, as on the wiper assembly. I just can't get on with it - struggle to cut it, drill it, glue it...it also fights me when I paint it! No doubt it's a case of not having the right tools for the job, which is why I tend to work with styrene as much as possible...
Good stuff!

Hi Dan,
It's great to see this finished - but only two years?! I thought I spent a lot of my spare time modelling, but my 908 is still going to be a three-year project. A little sad to reach the finish, as you say, but finishing this one means you can now start another!
There's so much to like about this one - overall fit and finish, quality detailing, the fact that it's 1/8 scale, the tyres, the engine bay...it's a real gem. Congratulations!
All the best,
SB

I have just spent the last 4 hours reading page 1 to 60 and I am absolutely stunned. The best of the best where is the next project ?

My friend I spent 7 hours with 1 to 60 and read every comment mechanically translated, and then went and found the Lago. I am an ex car sprayer, not a mechaniqe. your skills are unbelievable. maybe i could teach you how to handle cellulose paint, but your engineering skills are unsurpassed, and i take my hat off to you. You are to me a Master modeller.

Incredibly nice work Dan.
Imho something get lost in the mighty gt40 shape, mainly looking at proportions between windshield and nose section.
Suspect, considering the scale, it should be better to use as reference a real car (many replicas around today are deadly nice, and all manifacturers are too kindly in provide documentations and pics) instead of Trumpeter kit, that also has something mistaken in the shape of the car.
I am quite a purist over the gt40.
I loved the build up really a lot, specially for all the internal parts.
