Trans problem explorer

Hi my sons 1994 explorer wont move. If we put it in gear it just sits there. I checked the fluid and it looks like diluted motor oil. Is it possible that a fluid change could help this problem?

That would certainly be a good place to start, fluid and filter change. Was the level correct?
