i keep seeing these performance chips on ebay, they're advertised to add 20 horsepower. i have trouble believing this, but my real question is about how it will treat my car. will a chip like this have ANY negetive effects on my engine? thanks

the only negative i can think of is it requires higher octane gas. Therefore, meaning you will burn more fuel. :flamer:

How does a higher octane gas mean you will burn MORE fuel? It just means youll be spending $0.20 more a gallon. And a performance chip, without the mods to back it up - wont do crap to your car, and can actually take away performance.

dont get it it is not a chip it is a temp sensor it tricks your car in thinking that it is cold outside so it changeds how the car runs. dont do it i dotn know about 20 orse but it does give you a boost but at a great cost of your cars lifespan.

i've had a couple friends, and hear of others getting ripped from buying off ebay.. and you cant do shit about it if you dont have an address to go on, and it can be a big hassle...
i recommend, if buying online, from a proven legitimate shop... research, otherwise dont buy online and visit performance shops a lot

I have been using ebay for around 5 years. Buying / selling. When buying you just buy from people with 100+ feedback and your guarenteed what they are selling. People who say stay away from ebay are just idiots.
