What year engine do I have?...

hey everyone.

I havent been on this forum for a few years now. After I blow up the engine in my 97' gst I moved on to other projects. Now its time for the beast to come out again. Over the years I slowly forgot almost everything about our cars.

The other day I bought a stock 7 bolt longblock with a 16g turbo for $500. The guy said it came out of a 97' gst but the guy bought the engine from someone else. The guy I bought the engine from said he had to swap the intake cam because when he bought the engine the cam sensor was on the timing belt side. As for as I know all of the cam sensors are on the throttle body side.

Im confused as far as what year the engine is.

Are there markings or number on the block verifying what year the engine is?

Thanks

Papa George

On your block there is a set of casting numbers this is a casting date and engine style if you post these we should be able to tell the DOM (date of Manufacture).

you can also call your local Mitz. dealer with the numbers and they can tell you
