Thinking of fan toggle switch

Im thinking on making a toggle switch for my fan. It will be auto/manual. If it wants to turn on it will, but I will have another circuit where I can manually switch it on. Is this a bad thing or no? If anything I wanna try just driving with the fan turned on the entire time. Is there anything wrong with driving with the fan on all the time? Im guessing it could shorten the life of it but... let me know guys..
