Does anyone know how to remove the air conditioning from your car? Can you do it yourself at home, or do you have to have a certified person do it? I was thinking in my manual and it didnt give any instructions at all, and i cant really find anything online.

I suggest you have a certified person to drain the system. Then removing the components is basically just unbolting everything. I had my system drained when I did my swap then just yanked the components out.

I from a legal standpoint i think it depends on where you live. I'm pretty sure though that someone who's certified has to at least drain and dispose of the freon. Other than that you can do it yourself. Apparently its not that hard - like B16 said, the AC is pretty much just bolted on. Why do you want to remove it, anyway?

get get rid of the weight on the front of the car and also gets rid of less moving parts which allows the car to have a little more power because it isn't robbing the car of power because u dont lose power because you dont have any belts to spin.

If you wanna save weight, cool - but ac compressors aren't all that heavy, unless you're a total weight whore. So if you just wanna reclaim the lost hp, disconnect the belt. Problem solved, with no pain-in-the-assedness.

Yeah just for weight. I wasnt sure how much of a pain in the ass its going to be. How much does it cost to get the system drained? Im not a total wight whore, but i heard the whole system was pretty heavy, like 60 lbs?
