wont hold a charge

I have a 96 3.2L trooper that was having some issues with voltage and was shifting hard. I replace the alternator, alt belt and battery. It no longer had a “surging” issue when driving but now it will not hold a charge. I have taken the alt out and got it tested and it passed. Also the batt is good. I am hearing a clicking sound coming from the left side of the dash when it the voltage starts to drop and it will finally die. Any suggestions on what this could be? Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks

You need to check for draws. You'll need a DVOM capable of reading amperage. Hook it up in series with one of the battery connections and see where your at. .050 amps or less is acceptable. Typically you'll see less than .020 amps.

you may need to replace the charge relay a blue relay (I think from memory) under relay box
