Brake Light Problem

2000 chevy cavalier has problem with brake lights staying on when car is shut off. When car is on Brake lights do not operate. Can anybody help.. It drains out the battery. I have removed the ABS fuse and lights go off. Also removed the brake switch and still lights are on. Any help would be appreciated. Looking at schematic it leads me to the hazard switch or headlamp switch. Has anybody else had this problem and am i going down the right path or wrong path? :biggrin:
