Engine Change

I need some help in regards to my '98 Eclipse GSX. The engine Blew while I was driving down the road. I just figured that if I tried to fix it I'd probably be spending alot more than if i just bought a new engine. I want to put the '98 Mitsubishi 3000GT V6 VR-4 Turbo engine in the Eclipse instead. Is it a good idea? or should I look for a different engine? or should I just keep the engine I already have and spend around $2500 to fix it?

You can't put the v6 motor in your car. To many issues with fitment, fabrication. Etc. Yes it is possibly to do the swap but not worth it. The 4g63 is a great motor so keep it in there

Well... if I'm willing to go through anything so I can put the 3000GT engine in the Eclipse should i still do it?

Ahh... engine swaps....
Anything is possible with time, money and talent. Want to try it, then go for it.
The ONLY motor that is a direct swap for your car is another 4g63. Basic rebuilds cost about a grand to do. Performance rebuilds can go up in price from there. Buying a used working motor is about $600.
Dropping an entirely different motor that has nothing to do with the car, you'll be looking at at least $5,000. You will need the motor, the trans, trasnfer case, ECU, wiring harness, have to rewire everything, custom driveshaft.... then you have to make it fit, do all new mounts, move everything around...
If you want to do it go for it. It won't be easy nor cheap.

well i have money because i've been saving up, and I dropped a 3.8 L V6 Essex in my Ford Escort Zx2, so wouldn't it be the same concept?

I would start researching 4g63T engines along with larger turbos so you realize how relatively cheap you can make 400hp. Or you can spend the same amount on doing a complete engine swap which will most likely give you problems in the near future.

I saw a NT 3kGT motor dropped into a 1g, but I haven't seen a TT motor go in. Save yourself the trouble and build a 4g. The weight alone would steer me away.

this is good because i was going for something around 300+ horsepower

With a maintained car and a thought out mod process, this is a cakewalk for the 4g. They came with ~200 at the crank.

ya his gsx was fast as hell lol, we could play with a twin turbo c6 vette light to light cause of the vettes lag and ridiculous low rpm torque lol. but when it came to high way pulls we could only keep up till half way through 4th gear ( vette spins its ass off ) and after that we became a red dot in his mirror
