what kind of noises?
and if your drain plug is leaking, is there oil in the car? You could be burnin your internals pretty bad - hence the smoke and noises.
from what you daid, get the plug, or pan, fixed QUICK!
unless there are some details we're missing.

If you're just looking for a replacement motor you can get a d16z6 for cheap ass hell. You shouldn't pay more than 5 bills for a complete swap. I sold my z6 complete for 4 bills with a DC header and Hayame clutch.

you might want to just get a new head and those i have seen on the partstrader go for as low as 150. they also have engines there you might want to check out.

your valves need adjusting and you should get a new timing belt. If it were me I would just swap the engine then long live your car!

I wouldnt jump the gun and go buyin a new engine or block unless you're in the market for one. Fix the leak, then see what the engine does, you are definitely causing some damage to the engine if its making knocking noises. get the leak fixed, then take it to a trusted mechanic to find out the extense of the damage. from there you may have to look into a new head, or just some gaskets, or maybe rings, or who knows.
fix the leak, put in oil, find out what you broke, fix it.
or, like sageuvagony said, (and if you got the money) just swap out the engine, and ong live your car! ...the question is...which engine to get...muhahahahahahahaha...but that's another thread.:bandit:

step one: put on a pair of gloves (preferably batting gloves)
step two: find a big hammer or some type of bat
step three: hit that bitch of a car's motor
step four: car should be fixed...
:D (im so helpful i kno...)

No seriously, sometimes hitting stuff works. Not saying it will help your engine but I know that my cell phone stopped working one time for 2 days and I was upset as I had paid 349 for it. I then (out of frustration) just hit it against my table 4 times kinda hard and viola! it worked! I was like WTF? :bloated: Been working nice for about 5 months now and NOT a problem. And now for the face :bloated: (I think I will make this my new signature) I love that face as it resembles me hehe :bloated: :bloated: :bloated: Im going to enlarge that facey thingy :bloated: (WHOA TOTATLY OFF TOPIC NOW WOOHOO sorry):smoka:
