Ok where should I start. I am in traffic or a stop light and my car temp starts to go up. I got an auto meter(water)temp that shows me that the temp is starting to move up like to 210. Thats when I roll down the windows and put the heater on full blast so that it dosn't go any higher.
I got R&C racing radatior and I got a 160temp thermostat and I change the fan switch for a new one from the dealer and I also got a coolant sensor form the same place. So what is their left? But when I am driving on the freeway or on the street the temp stays at 160 to 178.
Please don't say it's a blown head because its not, if it was... my car would be driving like $#%@ Whats that vaccum press you say?... it says 21 and that is perfect because the dealer told me that the vac press should be between 17 and 21. Please don't make me go to the dealer PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They said the can fix it for an arm and a 10inch d!ck

Me no have! Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

nope the radiator cap is fine and i think if the water pump was bad it would be overheating all the time and I would be have serious problems

when was the last time you change your coolant and who did it?

try changing your coolant (50% water 50% coolant) and make sure whoever do it to bleed the system right. Also check the coolant level.

I drained it my self. As for the coolant I got it from the dealership which is 50/50 and I aslo bleeded it until it bubbled no more.

it seems like you got pressure lost somewhere, did u check all your hoses and make sure it on tight and no leak anywhere. if all yoru hoses are good then i would also agree that the water pump is bad. my car had a bad water pump once, in traffic it would over heat, but once i got hte car going, it was ok

I checked all the hose's and their is no leak. Their is one thing. I noticed that the reserve tank is just about full(of coolant)meaning that it is above the normal limt. When I check the radiator it has lost some coolant but when i pour the reserve tank that is almost full into the radiator it feels up with the overflowing amount. It leaves just enough in the reserve tank that it levels out to the normal amount that it should have. For Examlpe the radiator loses about a cup of coolant and that coolant get stuck into the reserve tank and dosen't get back into the radiator. So I think u must be right about the pressure lost. Some one told me that the water pump works or it dosen't work at all. Is this true? And is it hard to fix? Whats
(hte)?

u better watch out because i lost a motor because the water pump went bad, the bearing went and eventually it started leaking and it soaked my timing belt, which then caused my belt to snap bending 8 valves. yeah it will stiill work but its usually the bearing going so it kinda starts to wobble, which then the water pump isnt flowing 100%. that why it works when u driving highway but not in city. like highway driving u got the cold air flowing in the engine through the radiator, but city u dont got that. if your cooling is good it should do that.

well u say u replaced everything in yoru cooling system but the water pump, and u say theres no leaks anywhere. umm another possibility is that its your heater because if that has a hole in it, that could be your leak right there. if u havent replace your timing belt or your water pump in like the 60,000, it would be a good time for a t belt and water pump change

here a list to make it easier incase u dont understand my rambling

water pump and or heater.

Well I check the heater for leaks and nothing. But I forgot to say that when I was in traffic my car would starting to overheat. I would turn the heater on and for some reason it would stop putting heat and it would go to cold. I would have to pull over and let the car cool for a while. Sometime the traffic wouldn't be that bad and as soon as the car would start to move agian the hot air would come back. As for the water pump I don't think it leaks because I have been having this problem for 8 months and I drive it pretty hard sometimes.

replace the thermostat. i've encountered that same problem twice already. and both times were the thermostat.

It can't be the thermostat because I have already change it 3 times. The main problem is that the fan wont come on at the right time.It dosen't come on when I am in traffic. I know this because the dealer (honda) had told me. That it is the FAn. But he wouldn't tell me why because$$$.

i may be wrong but more than likely you are gonna have to run a toggle switch to your fan and when you are in traffic like that cut the fan on manually and when you start moving turn it off other than that you will have to go back to the dealer unless im wrong and someone else helps you out

check your fuses. isn't everything on the honda electrical?

michaelsd16c
05-06-2003, 10:24 PM
yes every thing is electrical but how would i check the fuses. Well i know if there blow then change but if not then what should I do? I belive that thier are only two fuses for the cooling. (15A) Cooling Fan and Cooling fan Relay.
