crusing on the 405 south and I pull alongside this early 80's trans am, nothing too fancy. I try to get him to go for it and he wont, ,but pulls over a lane. I figure hes all slow anyway, well, a riced out 80's civic hatch with the god ugly loud fart can rips imbetween us and stops. Trans am decides to gun it, sothe ricer guns it, so I of course gun it. This was at 80. by 95 the hatch was on my bumper, the trans am was about 4 lengths behind us :(---for HIM! So by 110 I was 2 lenths at least and decided that was enough, and of course, he did a fly by not stoping, riping off into the distance.

Not necessarily. If that 80's Camaro had the 305, it'd been a mid-17's car. I know I beat one of those from a stop with my SOHC-non-VTEC before I got my headers. Had about 2 1/2 car lengths on that car by 80MPH. Plus those cars usually aren't kept in top condition, on top of the fact that they didn't have that good of a top-end.

Yeah - the 305 the Camaros had were dogs. My wife used to own one. It didn't live up to the pedigree of the cars name.
