anyone read the article in 5.0 mustangs and super fords?
2/03 issue?
i was pretty damn amazed at the power that car puts down...
375 rwhp stock at 8psi (seems like the usual underestimated factory hp rating)
they put the lightning 3" pulley on it and got 415 rwhp at 13psi...
kenne belle's s/c with 20psi boost on a stock motor, stock exh and cats makes 616 rwhp... not bad... (and tuning, but no motor mods, just the ecu mods and the s/c with small diam pulley)
imagine an aftermarket exh, no cats... and maybe some other mods...
sounds like one hell of a kit...

Its amazing how easy it is to get big gains on forced induction cars, with just minor mods.

Coming from a website called Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords that wasn't too bad of an unbiased comparison of the 02 Camaro SS and the 03 Cobra. Nice article with some pretty sweet pics of both cars.

what really showed is how "under tuned" the cobra is from the factory...
a simple pulley swap netted almost 50hp... not too shabby, and the fact that the whp was almost what the crank hp is rated at was really nice to see...
especially after the 320hp cobra debacle a couple years back...

Yea its way underated, i know a guy who saw one at the track with just a air filter and a full exhaust sytem running over 430 rwhp. I would love to get my hands on one of these cars and get it to its full capabilities.

Remember, the DOHC responds better to FI than the LS1.

the Eaton M112 is only capable of 15psi---and no one testing it--at least from the major stang mags----has gotten more than 14.3psi. The sad part about it----is that after the 5000rpm mark----boost starts to tail off almost as far back to 8psi. I say sad----because it would be nice to sustain that kind of boost--------but hey----that snake is still making a shit load of power.

my gauge is reading 16 psi as of today....i believe my gauge.and boost does fall off but i have noticed on mine that it falls off at closer to 6,000rpm, the 8 psi is correct

i can't find the magazine or the article, but i know they turned to boost up really high on the factory charger, i won't quote numbers, b/c i can't back it up... but i know it was high...

the M112 Eaton is definite 15psi pumper----Eaton has that on their website. Also, the boost gauge is not a good indicator as to what kind of boost is being made at what RPM. The best thing to determine boost levels----is without question a DYNO of the car. The Eaton definetely starts to tail off at 4800rpm. Its not a centrifugal which makes power to redline.

Hey Vortech,
Where did you get the carbon fiber driveshaft for your 2001 cobra. How much and was it worth it?
