I should be there, just to let everyone know. Carlisle has a massive police force and on the set dates of the show, (these guys are on lock down). They hide in every alley and at every corner. Secondly, I know last year and the year before, everyone gathered beside the Bon Ton in the the old trak auto parking lot. If you do sit and conversate there, police will try to fine you. This goes for the new park parking lot across from the cemetary, and the new giant. Just don't want anyone to get fined, and I hope to see lots of AFer's there. :)

I wonder if he saw the guy in the 3000gt who burned out in gravel, hitting an entire row of cars. But yes its insane, its like spring break. Carlisle is nuts that weekend.

yeah it was fuckin nuts. one thing i didnt care for was waiting 5 hours to get out of the parking lot on sat night. i ended up getting sick and leaving that night which sucked because i won my class (97+ prelude semi wild)

we are getting a tent this year since we are bringing so many cars. it will be registered under "team fast" so look for my ride and say whats up if your there.
it will look similar to this pic from the show last year
http://www.premiercompacts.com/shows/cccn-02/image629.jpg

only thing that may be different exterior wise is i may have a carbon fiber lip and a carbon fiber trunk lid.

CCN last year was fucking crazy!!!! I'm soooo in this year. Oh, and also be careful on the TPKE on the way in on Friday and Saturday. My friend got a MASSIVE fine and a 5pt ticket for speeding. The cops are assholes. Early warning: Single wiper conversions are a $90 ticket (from last year) and you MAY be able to get off the hook if you tell the cop that it's a show vehicle when they try to fine you for body modifications. Just some tips I've picked up since last year.

LOL, sorry bout that. Don't get me wrong I like it but I just thought it was funny cause I get everyone chanting that. The cars were really cool, I hope to do well this year, I've put over $10,000 into my car so far and I'm only half way done so I hope I'll do good. I'm redoing my whole car so the pic in my profile looks nothing like it does now, well it looks better in that pic cause its all torn apart. Anyway take care

I wasn't offended or anything... It was funny just b/c I hear guys say that kind of crap all the time between my car guys and bike guys. ;)

I wish I still had my bike to take up there, but no such luck. :( I probably won't be able to go at all b/c I can't get anyone in my hotel room. I'm still trying, though.

I'd really like to get an AF meet together this year since last year so many of us were there and never saw one another. Nothing special, just a chance to put some faces to the screennames, ya know?

How far or how long will it take you to get into town on Saturday morning??? Harrisburg is an EASY 3 or 4 hour parkinglot from Carlisle and you won't be much better off coming from Reading or Hershey, either, IMHO. That, my friend, is why I'm getting a hotel. I don't bite, honest.

If you want in, just PM me and I'll explain some more to you.

Okay, we're a month away. Let's start getting some meet information started. My car is only going to be on the "fun field" if I even bother with that.

I'm guessing more people will be around on Saturday. Anyone know of times that are especially good for them?

NOOOOOOOOO. I will have flyers promoting AF that I will be handing out, and I'll probably do like last year and wear orange the entire time (tangie... orange  you get it) I may even decide to play with the iron-transfer kits for your printer so I will have a "bonafide" AF.com t-shirt. We'll see about that. My car will only be on the "play" field, but I think I'll be reprizentin da AF with some stickers or something.

I'll have my digicam so we can get pics of everyone from AF up here.

Still no time suggestions?

I might be there, I'm gonna try like hell to finish to my car and my friends but I don't know if its gonna happen. I still have to finish my interior and paint it and do a head light conversion on mine. My friend has a 97 Jetta and right now we're swaping a 1.8T into it and putting a 2001 dash in it also, we droped his engine last weekend and we also have to repaint his car too. I don't know we're gonna try like hell but we'll have to see. We're also putting a golf front end on his car too, we'll keep our fingers crossed. What date is it again?

May 2nd is the kinda "get in and see how things are going to be set-up" day. May 3rd is the actual "show" per-se. The 3rd is that Saturday, and probably the day we're going to meet the other AFers present. I'm thinking maybe we can meet up near the Grandstands somewhere in the earlier afternoon time. Don't want it to interfere with the burn-out contest or anything. ;)

My car won't be "ready" b/c I found out I have to take 2 summer classes instead of just the one, and I need the paint money for school. :( Why do I have to have a college degree again?

speediva
04-12-2003, 09:47 PM
How does 12noon on May 3rd sound to everyone? We can all meet right infront of the grandstands and get some pics and shoot the breeze, and even go walk around and check out eachother's rides while we're there. I figure they'll be having the bikini and burnout contests probably around 4pm like last time, so I figured meeting by noon would give everyone the chance to check stuff out and still have time to get back for the contests.

Yes, it's ME again. *you can stop groaning*... former PH member "ilikenakedgirls" aka Ric MIGHT be there. He spun a rod bearing in his Lude so he's just hoping his engine will last long enough to make it up. AF mod "JD@af" is coming over from West Hartford, CT for this thing. Also, we MIGHT get a visit from AF mod "Heep", but that's a BIG maybe.

I'm still eyeing 12noon on Saturday, May 3rd for the AF meet with everyone meeting at the grandstands. Post up if that's not good, otherwise, I hope to meet you all there!

Dude, I spent like half of Saturday watching the track. I hated that girl who was with Hi-Rev Tuners, though. What a TARD!!!! Is it just me, or were A LOT of people cutting the 2 180's really SLOW???? I would have been all up on my e-brake in that shiot, not to mention they were WAY off the race line. :o Sorry... guess riding a bike on a track makes me a lil picky.

Yeah, on Saturday I was in my Infin with like 4 others parked over near K street. I even missed the frickin "AF meet" I was organizing b/c the fucktards I invited couldn't get their asses together in time. Oh, and I kinda got lost trying to remember my special backroads to get to the fairgrounds. :o Like REALLY lost. I am pretty sure I won't go back next year. Last year was better, and when they started throwing glass bottles during the Bikini contest, that's where I drew the line. I mean, WTF????

Sure, I had some good times, and I got to hang out with the biker dudes who were causing chaos over by the hillside after the *official* burnout contest. I also got to hang with JD@af and Ric which was cool. Got to ride in JD's SWEET lil 'tegr, too. ;) Okay, so it didn't suck too bad, but still... Rice is rice, it doesn't really change much in a year. :o

Ok not to be picky but that's not how to race. What you are talking about is drifting and NO that's NOT racing. What do you pull up on your ebrake on your bike? And what was wrong with Anne Poonkasem? At least SHE was racing, and very nice and pleasant to talk to. She took the classroom session and everything to give it the ole gung-ho. Next time walk the walk instead of talk the talk.

I could say lots of things about Ann Poonkasem, none of which would be negative (Mike you lucky bastard, I wish I would have gotten to meet her in person, as well as be on HiRev) . I have the utmost respect for your racing sport of choice, and all its participants. You all put on quite a show, as I said to you at the track I'm not shure If I could hug those turns like you did, without flying into a tree lol. But it definetly sparked my intrest, I can see myself trying it in the future. :)

Were you wearing orange? DOHC yelled your name at random girl wearing orange, behind the stadium. He didint get a response so I guess it wasen't? A guy in a supra there was feeding me lines about running 9's with his 18's and mild engine work. I asked him to race he asked me what I had, and I pointed to my del sol. This guy nudges his friend and chuckles, that enraged me. Furthermore he woulden't race me???? (I did beat a black tinted out stang with a giant wing, driving high street though)

No, I was critisizing the fucktards that I shared a hotel room with. They didn't even start getting up til after 10:30, and with the shitty traffic and my back way being demolished (as I found out later) we didn't make it to the showfield til 20past noon. I got lost in Mechanicsburg, btw.

As for dissing people on the track: First, FWD technically can't drift per-se. Second, you don't have an e-brake on a bike, therefore there is no pulling of one. Third, a bike is RWD and you truly could drift if you REALLY wanted to try. I was making the bike comment in terms of racing lines. I saw VERY few people pulling the turns out far enough at the start and then by the apex they were all the way off the pavement in a lot of cases. This is where e-braking lets your front drive wheels keep pulling, and your back wheels just go along for the ride.

I didn't like how Anne had NO track ettiquette. Why did she keep stopping in the middle of the course??? It left me rather frustrated b/c all the commentator would say was how she was giggling and laughing, but not how she was doing a great job or anything else. Makes us girls look BAD that we are just bouncing, giggling goofballs. It's bad enough guys still won't take most of us seriously, but making nothing but comments as "aw, how cute" surely won't help.

Oh, and I didn't go out b/c I kinda don't have a car that would be allowed on the track. Not every girl who likes cars works for a high-expenditure television group who donates cars for such a cause. R-titled = no good. My rear suspension sounds like ass. If I could have borrowed someone else's car, I would have been out on that track myself. I raced my sportbike, I'll race a car.

I'm not going back next year. Last year was MUCH better and it won't change for a few years to come. Rice is everywhere, and excepting a few Supras, that Lotus, 2 thirdgen RX-7's, and the Silvia swap there wasn't much to talk about. It's turned into "wow, check out that worthless wing and ridiculously expensive paint job" and I can see that crap locally.

Oh, and I actually didn't wear orange. I was in a striped t-shirt with lacing up the front. It had some orange in it, and I figured that would be good enough. You actually raced down High Street?!?! Dayum. High Street is just where we bought our beer. mmmm, 24 of Yuengling for $16 ;) Hellz yeah!

Maybe you didn't look at the track close enough, but that turn was an off camber turn with a huge dip at the beginning. Most NOVICES, which most of them were, wouldn't have noticed that which would throw the car off balance into an off camber turn which would equal push/understeer for most. For me I took it wide to avoid both.

And ANNE kept stopping cause they were filming for Hi-Rev tuners. She has never done anything like this before she told me. I told her it's plain fun :) Afterwards she told me she was hooked on this type of fun. So maybe before assuming you need to get the facts first. I think what she did was great - to be able to show everyone that anyone can do this instead of thinking she was a bubble head.

Your car would have been allowed in the SSM class. Super Street Mod with the Lotus Elan and the Tigger/Viking car.

Last year was more rice than this year. At least in my opinion. There were more clean cars this year.

As for Anne, I'm sure she was having a great time, but the poor guy who had to run behind her was probably rather peeved. She was constantly ruining his times. :(

I wasn't really paying much attention to the camber of the track, to be entirely honest. I was more interested in what was out there, and what did well and not so well. There were a lot of cars that needed some suspension help to do better. The tiger definately caught my eye, and I snapped a few pics of it, sadly not on the track, though. I'll probably take my car out to Beaverun next year if I EVER get the money for it. :( I'll just stick to the free "newbie" days with the motorcycles til then.

I never saw the engine; I was just impressed to see a Lotus, regardless of what it had under the hood.

I was impressed by a lot of what I saw, though there was lots of rice. I had never seen a Honda nor a Mitsubishi with a Nissan SR20 swap up close, but they had several Hondas and at least one Mitsu with the swap, so getting to see those was cool. A Dodge Ram 1500 V8 with a Paxton compressor was nasty and awe-inspiring. And though the owner told me the nitrous wasn't hooked up at the time, seeing an S2000 with a turbo and nitrous.. well it was a thrill just imagining the potential of the combination.

As Tangie said, some nice Supras, a couple NSXs, even a Viper. The show definitely had its show cars (though IMO the nicest car we saw was actually in the parking lot just outside the grounds: a red 360 Spyder!!). Oh and did I say lots and lots of tits?? Yeah, lots and lots of tits.

Look who took a pissy little baby attitude. Like you should talk any. I never said I can drive so much better than anyone else. I was pointing out the fact that the person she was making fun of IS in fact a great driver. He beat out 70,000 other drivers Nationally for 2nd place last year. The kid is only in college non-the-less and is broke as poop.

So what club are you with that you think "all SCCA members" are dicks? Let me guess NASA? Or BMCA? Umm yeah you'd better check on my background and see what other driving I have done.

And why are we comparing driving on the street to autocross and track/road racing? :flipa: Hows all your big mouth bullshit thinking you're cool shit gonna help you when some stupid fucking soccer mom pulls her mini van out in front of you and you t bone her. it wont.

Or how about: Hows all your "don't get to walk your track first" bullshit thinking gonna help you when some stupid fucking soccer mom pulls her mini van out in front of you and you t bone her. it wont.

It goes both ways man.

The Tigger/Viking had the carbon fiber hood off on Friday :) We were all teching the car and said "It will not pass tech unless you let everyone here drive it" :)

The other 1991 Lotus Elan had 25,000 miles on it he purchased it for $20,000 couple of years ago. ONly switched out the turbo and that thing cornered so FAST and flat! It was a size to see.

And there was a 360 Modena Spyder in the red barn that had everything CHROME! Is that considered blasphemy?

And not to be that much more of a bitch, but I was dissing a SHE, who still wasn't good in my opinion. Yes, she may have been a first-timer, but she definately looked the part.

Not like any of it matters, b/c the people collectively fucked up a good one this time. (http://www.cumberlink.com/articles/2003/05/05/news/news01.txt) Way to be, you screw-ups!!!! Ruin the fun for everyone just because you have to act like a shithead. ESPECIALLY YOU AT MY HOTEL, AND YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!!!!

I agree that it gets out of hand every year. But being farmiliar with carlisle. As well as there resident police force, I must say that I find them abusive of there law enforcement power. I went for a run every night I was there, and got followed by a police car. Infact when I go to visit fam. similar situations occur. This is due to the fact that carlisle has way to many police. But they have been talking about this for years, I saw it coming. Especially after witnessing a girl getting mobbed after flashing a camera, and a security gaurd getting spit on for trying to break it up. As well as my friend analila's shirt getting ripped off, It was crazy.

It's not being cancelled. I spoke with several the heads of Carlisle fairgrounds and they mentioned that they were going to move the event to another location away from residents.

But it is true, tards have to ruin it for everyone. I wish I could have found some of these idiots and just bashed their heads in.

I moaned to get a mod position? Talking about pulling one out of your ass. I never asked to be mod. I was asked when drumsy was here, since I was formal and knowledgable, but yet not as pigheaded as yourself. And please let me know what ACT I have put on for you guys. If anything you're the drama queen.

You must think you are all high on yourself for posting such a great knowledge to show what maturity level you can reach. I'm really impressed, really.

Life must be a basket full of peaches for you. *clap*

Wow this thread is getting out of hand. They didin't seem like dicks to me, granted I only talked to two ppl. But dicks or not, they put on a hell of a show. Lets try to keep this thread friendly, I can see someone ending it soon. (just a suggestion)
