I captured these pics from my nephew's PC game. I simply could not believe how beautiful these elite police lambos are! Imagine being chased by one of these V12 monsters on the freeway while I'm speeding in my sad little rice burner Honda Civic :D

The Murci super police car is nice but I think the Diablo 6.0 one is even meaner looking! It would be nice if they could make 1:18 Diecast models of one of these babies! I'd get one in a flash! (Psst! AutoArt! Exoto!) :flash:

For those interested, the movie trailer that comes with "Need for Speed - Hot Pursuit 2" is awsome. Its a highway rat race between a Ferrari and a Murcielago. They initally leave the cops way behind in the process. But then the cops pull out their big machine: the murcielago police car. And it gets interesting. - Very well done CG trailer. Highly recommended!

Yeah its a great movie. My nephew thought I was crazy but I watched it a lot of times! :)

I have been meaning to purchase NFS 6: HP 2 for a long time now... it is a very good game.
According to my nephew (he's the video game expert here) the best version is the PlayStation 2 version and the worst is the PC one! I played it with him on the Playstation. There is one mode where one player gets to be the speeder and the other the cop and you both play cat and mouse! - mad fun (the cop cars have nitro boost! :cool: )

As for the "arcadish" thing, I agree with you but than again a lot of these companies would like to appeal to the broadest audience (most of them haven't even driven before - kids). I guess its actually fun when one gets used to it.

Rare software was recently acquired by Microsoft. Microsoft also own Ensemble Studios (my company). So we are all the same company. I will call them on Monday and find out more. No guarantee that I can say anything though.

Tony, toot your horn all you want. All the games your company makes have been raved about. And about a month ago I saw a review of Age of Mythologies on Extended Play on Tech TV, and they went crazy for it. I've never been too big into these types of games, but I've also never sat down to actually try them out, I may have to give em a whirl sometime.

I hope those idiots at EA don't get it, they can't make a decent game, all they do is plug out crap. I'd love to see Polyphony Digital get it but then it would only be a Sony exclusive. evostudios (http://www.evostudios.com) mind you may be a good contender, I'm sure a few people will be watching this.

Got a loan of HP2 from a mate and I must say it is very impressive. The speed, the car models and the gameplay is excellent. Music, why only 4 techno tracks?!?! The cops and their boost does get annoying but it means there's no leaving them well behind and the speech of the cops is always upto date which has been a problem for the NFS series. The only things I don't like is that all the police seem to be after only you when they get serious. For example: Roadblocks, Spikestrips and even the Helicopter which is intent on blowing you to hell and back. Get's frustrating when the other cars just blast through losing the cops and you've got all the above to cope with.
Other than that it's a great game and I really enjoy it.
I know I'm late with this but it looked like a game to rent rather than buy and I must admit the developers that did the PC, Xbox and GC versions were very lazy compared to the developers of the PS2 one.

Agreed :). I play with my nephew on the PS2 a lot and borrowed a the PC version so I could also see the diffrence. The PS2 is so much better. The only thing nice about the PC version is the 8 player online racing (but its really very plain because there is no police in the online game.
Also I love the touches on the PS2 like the extra points for every stunt that you pull. My favorite moment was when my nephew's car landed on top of my car, (it took me a few seconds to shake his car off my roof) but he got tons of points for that :D
