Got my 2 12's in!!

Anyway, I went and got the stuff yesterday, and after about 4 hours of moving shit around, I got my system in the way I want it. Pics coming soon, I gotta go take some of my friends 86 LxI accord rims too.

which 12" subs did ya get? and what amp are u using?

Still need to clean those wires up man. And you actually have both subs hooked up to each channel? How much can those subs handle? And what is the amps Bridged rating?

I had boths my 12's bridged off a little 120 watt amp. Had it running at 1 ohm. Might be able to do the same to yours, if the subs can handle it. If your really looking for some more power out of it. Just suggestions.

how does it sound? i want crazy bass and a deep sound that you can really hear, i have shitty kenwoods i dont think they are gonna be up to my liking im trying to sell them, the kickers are good right?

They look pretty smart, really good quality, i gotta carpet my box coz at the moment I got my two 12's in a MDF box with no cover and it looks pretty crap

They sound really nice ... I used to have 1 kicker and that sounded pretty good also, but I blew it cause my crossover was a pos and I had mad distorsion ... Later I bought an infiniti on ebay which ended up being blown when it got here, I rolled with that for a while anyway, while my kicker was at the factory being fixed (1 year warranty) anyways, I later got the kicker back, and after helping my friend install 2 mtx 12's into his civic, I was thinking, I should get 2 of these. So a friend of mine and I went to the flea market sunday and picked up another kicker, and the box, and my friend got 2 sets of speakers for his moms car cause all her shit was blown.

Anyways ... got it all installed yesterday, and I powered the car on and I got NOTHING. Man I was pissed, but after checking everything, I determined that my inline fuse was blown, so it was off to kragen for another one ... and then my system is sounding GOOD.

I love having plenty of power and knowing that I probably will never need more bump than this.

man i wish i had cash for some sort of sound. haha, all i have now is my drivers side stock speaker:flipa: :D

I have nothing. Not even stereo.The only music i listen to is my engine:)

I had to do that back in feb after my stereo was stolen ... didnt have any mods yet so there wasnt much to listen to.

I commute 40 mins each way 5 days a week for school, so I like having a good system and my a/c for the summertime.

I wish i had ac but its really not that bad not having one.

commuting can be so stressful though, now I can just kick back, bump some beats, keep cool, and just roll.

That sucks, which is the reason I dont really bump it coming into parking lots and shit, dont really want to let anyone know what I got ... in concord (where I go to school) I dont really care cause the heald parking lot is secure, you can leave your window down and it still would be all good.

I have a single 12 inch Sony xplode sub in my CRX, I love the sound, Ive just wound up the Bass boost on my amp now as my subs nicely worn in, and yep, loud enough. I have pics of my install if anybodies interested too.

Nice setup, you set off any car alarms with it yet? You did make it pretty easy to steal though, with the amp mounted to the subs, that makes it 10x easier to steal. But hey, if you got 'em out of sight, and don't bump in neighborhoods/parking lots, you're all good.:cool:

No alarms yet, not bumping it too loud cause im still breaking the subs in ... sedan trunk is pretty hard to break into anyways with the inside popper locked.

My install. :D The amp is covered in the same sorta mesh you put in your front grill. The amp sits flat in that little storage bit in the back of my CRX.

Thats a pretty sweet setup ... I like it!

did everyone see mine on the first page? hehe those r my 12's, Rockford Fosgates, there already broken in too cuz there my buddys old ones, every time i see him he has a new system lol and he had these 12's for a lil while tho but i still think he got them stolen from someone but shhhh lol i need to find a nice slim amp tho to fit infront of them or beside them but i have like no room back there unles i flip the seats down but i dont want to do that cuz i wanna cruise with more then 1 person:rolleyes:

lmao yea thats always fun! apparently if I put 2 lightning audio amps in my car then my system will set off car alarms cuz thats the setup my buddy had with these 12's, he's tryin to sell me the amps for 100 bux each but i cant afford that right now, I owe the machine shop 240 bux right now and thats like the rest of my account haha. i need to work more often hehe.:silly2: but this guy knows his stuff with audio equipment, i'm not too great with it lol. but some of his setups are loud, hes getting 2 of the kicker (i think) subs that are squares and a couple new amps... again

(my subs) i'm too lazy to take them out of my box and risk dropping one hehe

Nope, I traded 2 of the subs for a set of 5th gen Civic fenders and headlights. It was too good of a deal to pass up.

I got a set of Rockford Fosgate 12's, and they take 400w a piece, but you should really check the back of the sub to be sure what it can handle.

alright, I got a Pioneer DEH-1300 deck and its power outputs 45x4 watts so my subs should be able to handle that and maybe get like one 250 watt amp? that should be good enough right? and i've heard if you dont have an amp it will wreck the voice coils in the subs... is this true?

Yup, I finally decided my subs had been broken in and wound up my amp and set off some car alarms the other day!!!

I remember the days...cruising around...having my system beatin...confusin people....car alarms going off...aawww...those were the days, then someone had to ruin them by stealin my system, oh well.

yea, 1phatcx, you can ruin subs by not feeding them enough power...or so i have heard from several people. Kinda sucks, you can ruin it by not enough power or by too much power. a 250 watt amp for 2 12's that can handle 400 watts each? thats a little low, unless you got that amp running a lot harder than its supposed to. If you don't feel like risking either your amp, or subs. I think a 400-500 watt amp should be fine for each one. Should please both the subs and you. But you could hook up a 250 watt amp to run about 500, depends what amp and if you want to run the slim risk of fryin it. Oh yea, you could also try mounting the amp on the back of your seats. Thats where mine was and it had plenty of room.

NO, that is just a myth. You can't underpower a sub but people usally will get that mixed with a clipped sine wave, which inturn will ruin the sub. Nice setup, and don't worry about those wires, you should see mine. Just remeber is not hip to be square:D

i will get pics up of my crx's system soon. two 18" audiobahns with 7600 watts running to them. got sponsered by a local audio shop and it cost me almost nothing

whats a clipped sine wave? and how do i avoid that?

It is basically whats happens when your cars electrical system does not have enough power to to push the amp or the gains are set to high. The sine wine ends up fat toped instead of a curve.

Ya, no problem but you won't gain the full use out of the speakers as you can. The speakers will taker longer to break in for one but the speakers will last a long time.

alright, just as long as i have some music to listen too, i'm not gonna be going in competitions or anything. and the speakers r worn in already too because there my buddys old ones he had in his Jetta for awhile. he was using amps with them and he said there broken in nicely now

its not a myth, i have seen it done...and i have done it. Along time ago i had an 18 in my room running it with a house sterio after awhile of playin it the voice coil fryed

also... what exaclty does the voice coil do? just so u can hear the lyrics? and will you hear a huge difference when the voice coils go?

I checked that site but it didnt give me all the info I want, when the voice coil breaks, fries, (dunno the correct term) whats it sound like? i've never heard it, and will your subs still work with the base or will there be no sound? and if I have like a 150 - 200 watt amp will this increase my chances of not hurting the voice coils? i wanna just get a cheap amp anyways but not gonna get one if i dont need it
