just cause we dont have a million mods to our cars....doesnt make us ricers. I have very fews mods but they are all i can really afford currently. Yes there are some ricers here, but they dont usually last long they come and go quickly.

so what's wrong with RICE and CURRY? :monkeypis *judging*
Internal mods as external mods are as important cuz even if you have a fast car but with crappy looks, people still make fun of you.
We all do mods to our cars but sometimes it'd be too long to explain it in AF. So we rather answer and help another AF member when they need help.
This summer I did,
1. engine swap
2. conversion to manual
3. rebuilt engine
4. rebuilt transmission
5. pipping exhaust system
5. put new suspension system
6. put a whole new stereo system
7. put alarm system
8. keep up today all maintenance
9. put looks stuff:zc hood, integra seat, jdm spoiler, etc...
new headlights & tailights (cuz they were all cracked after 13 years!)
So Thanks for acknowledging people who DO work on their cars, we just don't talk about it often.

not so much that there is more ricers but some important people has kinda been MIA during the server troubles....
as for people not doing anything to their cars  have you seen my driveway lately? just replaced a 238,000 d15 with a 70,000 d15 so maybe i can get that car out of our hair. there is never something not happening, lol.
check out ci5ic, travis_118, EF_LSVtec, Json79....to name a few more. blink and any one of those car will have something new....all well put together cars
since spring swapped y8 in si, a6 into the lx, rear disc brake conversion on Si, keyhole-less handles on Si, bought & sold teg (for profit), and now the dx sedan to sell (again, for profit). still have to stick a y8 in a friends dx before it snows (doh!) there has been other stuff in between but, as someone else mentioned....i don't feel like typing.

this is true, although I was on superhonda earlier and those guys were all making fun of ci5ic's car which I thought was pretty fucked up since he did a good job on everything and got a really nice paint job.

I believe i am 1 of the "ricers" you speak of i haven't done ANYTHING to my car yet. I am on a pizza delivery drivers salary so it isn't as simple as taking 3 grand out of the bank to do an engine swap or whatever.
I do have very big intentions for my car and have been doing a lot of research on "junkyard" type mods (mpfi swap, interior parts swaps, etc)
But does that make me a ricer? I just thought it meant my son ate 3 times a day :(
Oh well I love my 4g thats why i came here. Not to try to impress anyone.

No, the term ricer is nothing more than a opinion. Much like racism.

i happen to disagree with laughing at fast ugly cars. i dont laugh or do i know anyone that laughs at fast ugly cars. you respect them.
the most ricer thing i have on my car is a type r shift knob and a sticker on my rear view mirror that says "objects in mirror are losing". other than that its all about going fast. my car is gonna stay as ugly as it is until i break into the 11s.
i think most people on here arent ricers

While I hate cheap, trendy work, it is inappropriate to hate on people who haven't done much to there cars. Your deffinition of rice does not fit mine. There are people who spend years restoring and modifying their cars to perfection. While initially they might not look like much the end result jusitifies the ugly process of build up. What all have you done to your car that is so special and unique? I am the only person I know of in kansas who will have a JDM front conversion, I want to stand out, i laught at cheap ricer work, but i don't hate on someone just because I don't agree with their work. I make suggestions on what I would do, or express opinions on what I think would look better, but I almost never completely clown them. The few exceptions are those who try to flaunt there work and those people who think their car is better than everyone elses. Think next time before you create an ignorant thread such as this one.

I considure myself far from rice.
Current plans are:
Full kit mounted, and have the car re-painted orange. (same color as interior) should be done in spring, JDM B16a Engine will happen middle of summer, and the completion of my interior (white/orange vinyle seats), and last my new sound system consisting of Alpine 7893 Head unit, JL Audio 10W04 x2 Subs, JL Audio speakers, JL Audio 250/1 amp. And a total custom fiberglass hatch mold..

i like rice... especially fried rice... oh and it has to have the lil baby ears of corn in it too...
but my car was coming along nicely... but since i left for college to persue my career i haven't quite had the money to mod.. or even drive my car its stayed the way it has been for... oh about 7 months i think...
yeah but so far its pretty decent for the stock a6 and what a highschool student could do, paying for everything myself... car included... plus maintaining another car for winter...
but hey when in 5 years when i'm making 50+ grand at the age of what 24 i think lets compare cars yeahhhhhhh that'd be great
oh and 50 is being very conservative
thanks

Here's my $.02
I think everyone has their own definition of what "rice" is. Personally, I feel that "rice" is when someone tries to pretend their car is something that it is not. For example, putting a big "Eibach" sticker on their car when it isn't even lowered, or just on cut OEM springs. If someone's got Eibach springs, then cool, throw the sticker on your car if you want, no big deal. I used to have stickers on my ride, I thought it looked cool. I still think it does to a certain extent.
But to other people, rice takes on different forms. For someone else, putting a body-kit on your car may seem to them like that is you pretending that your car is something that it isnt. For whatever reason, either it's not JDM or USDM, or maybe it's just an "agressive" kit that makes your car "look" faster. But the fact is that if I slap an agressive kit on my car, it's really no different than doing a JDM conversion on it. Because, try as I might, my car will never really be JDM, so does that make it rice? because I'm "pretending" that my car is JDM? What about the agressive kit? No, it doesn't make the car go faster, but it makes the car "look" faster... Does that make it rice? because I'm "pretending" that my car is really fast? For some people, rice is being "trendy"...
Basically, all it boils down to is personal preference, and there's no accounting for taste. Everyone has their own goals for their car, and everyone has a different budget to work with.
Personally, I want my car to look nice, handle well, be comfortable, and be quick... I divide my attention and money between those 4 goals. This year, I think I've spent about 7 grand on my car with various suspension, cosmetic, and performance mods, also currently rebuilding a D16Y8 and prepping it for turbo. People call my car "rice" all the time, but you know what? I DON'T GIVE A FUCK BECAUSE I LIKE IT!
There's plenty of good tech in this forum. You just have to ask the questions, and you are bound to get an answer...

All will fear my CRX after my engine swap and if I can ever decide whether to go NA or turbo.... and believe me I spent a long time de-ricing my car, I don't even want to post the before picture of my car, but if you search the forums you can find it. Still rollin' on 16" "Bling blingin" chrome wheels though...

I agree with Mike, go 4 what u like.
I'd love to have a fast car but I don't have money so I choose to make it look decent & try a little bit of performance upgrade.
The only time I frown on things is when it just doesn't make sense..... like there's this Neon I c all the time that has a stock spoiler on back & a huge aluminum wing mounted on top of that....... I'm like  what's the point.
ANYWAYS I'M DONE NOW. :toothless

I think everyone here has something that considers them "rice" from someone elses prespective. I think people call other cars "rice" when in reality they wished thier damn car looked that way to (but not all the time) Everyone could only spend some much money into thier car because they or in high school, college, have a family, arent that rich but o well just another god damn stereotype for japanesse cars

yes you are, but it's not because of the stickers. :finger:

am I a ricer? yeah... I am... and I'm so freakin sorry that just because I work my ass off to put what few modz I can on my car while trying to pay for another AND take care of my mom while she's sick... That's why I've got my ghetto rigged intake, strut tower brace, APC stickers, APC pedal covers, and everything else, I've gotta have something to do with my hands to keep my mind off the other things... that's one reason I'm buying the wrecked CRX so I will have something else to be proud of when it's finished. I've only had one person disrespect my car to my face, I knocked him flat on his ass. If you wanna call my car rice, go ahead, if you wanna call me a ricer, feel free to, but just ask yourself why you are calling me that? I dont claim my intake makes extra horsepower or that I can beat any type of car (TBI 2.5liter... who'd I be kidding, but I did beat an eclipse ;) ) I'm just doing this stuff because I want something to do to my car. I've got real plans but just no money to carry them out, I've learned a hell of a lot from this board, I dunno why everybody hates all of the time, I thought we were here for a single purpose? to discuss 4th gen civic/crx information and to help people out. Sometimes nobody's really got anything to talk about so we start with some o/t stuff but believe me, I know I'll have some q's once i get my CRX apart and I start the conversion from DPI automatic to MPFI 5-speed :D
but seriously civicracer_1990... chill dude

Funny how that "yuppie bicycle" is worth more than my car, funny how I have another hobby aside from my car that allows me to get exersize. And if I didnt know how to modify my car, then whats all the shit in my signature? Or this
