S14 early version project started

guys, I am working on initial D s14 early version. the kit is good, it comes with extra parts, Nismo Skyline GTR racing seats, exhaust(larger), and flat wing.

However, I have to lower the car since its ride height is very HIGH. I chopped the front suspension and A-arm for 3.5mm, and the rear for 1.5mm. It is totally pain in the ass, I spent over 10 hours doing the mod job. And for the rims, I am thinking to put vienna crisis for it, still not decided yet. your input is welcome.

WHERED YOU GET IT?

I built a FujimiS-14 like that and the ride was like a 4x4!!!:( SILVIA S-14 (http://www.geocities.com/tonioseven/silvia.html) Those wheels will look cool on your Silvia:cool:

Those fujimi kits that come molded in a nice coled plastic...
HAs anyone ever sprayed a clearcoat over it? does it look like a paintjob?

ya right. Fujimi molded in pretty good orange plastic......I am also thinking just compound polish it , and then spray clear coat over it.

Those are kick arse rims.....they fill up the arch's really well

i hope it looks good when it is completed

actually, I changed the camber setting. I have to drill holes for suspension in order to make the sus. more towards the inner. And you can see the spring of the sus. was "THINNED" / chopped. It is very tough......but I kind of like the outcome......hehe

please for the love of God don't desecrate such a beautiful drift machine with such VIP wheels! don't get me wrong, i like those wheels. but the S14 is a drift car, it deserves wheels like Advan RG's, Blitz Technospeed Z1's and such. those wheels would be better suited to a Toyota Aristo or something like that. well, i guess it's your choice. i bought the Veilside version of that same kit, but it came with the same body kit as the Initial D one as well and after a while of having the Veilside kit on it, i realized how gay and ugly it was and put the Initial D one on it. as it was my first encounter with spray paint, it looks like shit and i'm soon going to completely strip it and re-do it completely. would it be possible for you to post a pic of the wing that came with it? thanks! can't wait to see finished product!

PS what the sweet hell is on the front fender in the 4th pic? i sure hope it's tape...

i agree!:) IMO the s14 is a performance car not a late night cruiser...;)i say TE-37's or NT-03's!

As I said, the suspension was moved towards the inner, you can see the inner hole and the original hole was filled with putty. and in the second pics, the A Arms were moved upwards, so that the car is lowered.

it's looking good so far! when i re-do my S14 (if i even attempt to re-do it, it might be ruined beyond salvage, i might just have to buy another S14 kit), i'm definitley going to attempt to lower it a bit and put some camber in the wheels, because the ride height now is just horrible. you lucked out with the parts that came with it! mine (the veilside version) came with the same body kit as yours, but i got a really crappy exhaust, an ugly wing (i didn't use it), and had to use the stock seats. i think a rim poll is definitley in order! what color are you planning on painting it?

well, ok. i have seen those wheels before, but never on a drift car. i've only ever seen them on VIP cars. i guess they do look pretty nice on the FC...it would still take a bit for me to warm up them though...don't even start to criticize my knowledge of drifting though!! i'll blow your ass out of the water!!:finger: :finger: lol j/k. i think the NT-03's look pretty good on it, don't fill the fenders as nicely, but they look pretty good. that's why i suggested Aoshima Z1's. they're big (18") and don't look too VIP.

it is tough to find Aoshima Z1's rims these days......:(

do you know which aoshima car kit comes with Aoshima Z1's ?

What do you guys suggest about the color? I am thinking of "Orange-gold" or "Gold-leaf".:flash:

The Nismo GTR parts come with your AE86 kit??? can u take a snap for me? I have an AE86 kit, but doesnt come with it.

Yeah, my Initial D 86 came with the extra skyline parts...intercooler, muffler, wing, and some other stuff.

do you know which aoshima car kit comes with Aoshima Z1's ?

mine came with a few, but not the same ones as yours did. i got the racing seats, but i didn't get that exhaust or the wing. i DID get a nice, fat METAL exhaust tip though, which looks sweet, but i didn't get the canister, it just hooks onto the stock exhaust, so it looks kinda weird from the underside...but oh well!

what color you guys suggest ??? I am getting headache with color choice......

joecwlaw, the ae86 kit I got came from the "Racing Star" series, which cost 500 more yen than the one from "inch up" or "tohge" series. The on;y reason I got that one is because I thought it came with the TRD wing from the really small pic! Well FYI, it also came with 17" TE-37's(without decals) and I bought a separate set too!!! Damn wrong rims on the dang box!

As for your car, I like the kit on your first pic, as well as the color(blue-silver??) Only thing I didn't like is those side-view mirrors, isn't my taste. And I like the stock wing aswell, but it's all up to you!

ooooh man!!!!:eek: :eek: :eek: :eek: GP Sports makes the nicest S14 kits, and the demo cars that they do up are beautiful. i think either of those would be good for your model, black or bluey silver. any decision on the wheels yet?

And for rims, I am waiting for the Yokohama model 7 to try to see how it looks like......but most likely go for 19" deep rims series......those pics look really cool, hope I can 100% replicate it.

i currently have gunmetal model 7's on the front of my S14 (i have drifter style front/back rims). i'm putting different rims on it when i re-do it though, probably BRW-03's.

just finished waiting the epoxy putty to get dry......and tried to shave the putty parts... However, part of the putty was cracked, so you saw there is a white styrene I put on to "straighten" the suspension arm......:(:( lowering job is really tough

It has been pended for long time.

Donno what I am thinking, I am redoing the front bumper and side skirts. Wanna do K Style front bumper by drilling and chopping the original bumper. Styrene and putty will be put later tomorrow, hope to see better shaping.

I like the way it looked to begin with with those crises. I say if you haven't decided on a color, do one similar to what it was molded in, that'd be tight.

Just finished working on the Front Light housing. The Fujimi comes without any front light housing, in order to make it looks more "real", I drilled and chopped the front headlight housing. I will put styrene sheet and putty later. Hope to have more progress next week.
