Turbo made easy...

This is a new idea I had on the way up to the Nissan dealer today...and was thinking. How about instead of putting these huge T5/T6 turbos on the VQ30DE, why not go with a T3 or T3/T4 hybrid turbo and the piping would have more room, while the compression ration is still a hurdle, we should as a group contact Greddy and petition them to built a kit that includes a thicker metal head gasket (copper etc.) and the other essentials needed. I have many friends with the honda 1.6L kit and they have over 70k miles on it ands still running! Does anyone feel like doing this? I have been quoted custom kits but, how many people have the $4k plus it costs? This would be the answer to the many of the Maxima owners out there, and if your interested post your thoughts on this matter and let's try to get Greddy to listen all of the 95+ owners that also would rahter go turbo. Post your (all) thoughts/opinions in detail.

That's weird. I sent an email to a shop asking about the t3/t4 hybrid yesterday. The hybrid turbo is rated for use up to 450hp. I can't see needing something bigger in my '97, though they recommend the t4. Hopefully, this thread will spark some interest.

Is that it? Two people out of the thousands and thousands of Maxima enthusiasts are interested in this petition. Maybe I wasn't clear on the benefits of this, or some just would rather settle for what is currently on the aftermarket. Well, its threads like this which help to get this whole thing off the ground, sadly at this rate we will never see a kit or anything of the sort made for the potenial-stricken Maxima! Please give this a chance to suceed, the outcomes would be cheaper parts overall, a reliable turbo kit, and give the Maxima the respect it deserves throught the world of racing.

I'm here too.

right now the kits that are available are the pfi speed kit. then there is the kit that custommaxima is gonna sell. (the pics are of the pfi kit) and then there is another kit yet to be priced that hlh501? from the org is planning. he just got his in and running. just doing some fine tuning. so there are a couple of options now, but more is always better.

What does that Turbo kit run?

The kit I will be starting for this petition will include: Head gasket, Piping, T3 (fast spool) turbine, Greddy exhaust manifold(s), Blow-off valve, but injectors are still up in the air and will remain in this grey-area state until I and/or we can get more replies to this thread. The main objective if this petition will be to balance the market for turbo kits for our Maxima platform and as equally committed to recieving a high-durability turbo kit that will last. I have seen too many cars' hoods fly in the air because of either: A. Overboost B. Bad Piping C. Blown head and/or head gasket. So, if your share this common goal to avoid these cituations, then reply to this thread! Response so far has been somewhat fair but I need more support. Thank you all so far whom have replied, spread the word about his thread or just to people your know off the net, and post for them! More people we can gain on the petition, the better the kit will be mainly due to the increase in volume of Greddy's profit (not mine what so ever). I am not here to make 1 cent off of this at all, I am more interested in seeing a larger market for Maxima products (especially turbos/turbo kits)!!!

Well, now as time passes more and more of you are saying your in, but we still need more replies. As for cost, we as a group signing this petition might want to talk about this a little. So, I will also be starting a thread in relation to this manner and we all can give are opinions and/or constructive criticism on the turbo kit. Keep in mind common goals as discussed beforhand in this thread.
