my boy just did 146 in his spec v. holy crap. i was freaked out. we were going to the beach and the road along the beach is straight for miles and miles, so he took it up. and he pinned it at 146. pretty crazy huh?

damn 146?!?! how long did it take him to get up there?!? he must of been going at least in a slight down slope with the wind going his way

i don't know about the wind, but that road is flat as can be. and even so, 146 is damn fast.

yeah when pigs fly it tops off at about 130 to 135 mph then the fuel cut off kicks in so there in no way yopu hit 146 with no mods or even any help (gravity / wind)

the ONLY speed limiting factors are:
1) drag
2) redline in the top gear (only if you have enough power to reach it)


if you are going with the wind it would be very easy to hit 145mph, the SE is drag limited at around 128, and the spec is drag limited at around 135 I believe. Add in a 10mph tail wind and you got yourself 145mph

i hit 143mph...US27 South Florida...didnt have a wind sock on side of road to tell wind direction....but thing is nasty at 143mph.......ill make vid and post it..thats is if cnn's weather report is accurate....

I definitly got over 140 but the wind was behind me, couldnt get past 125ish going the other direction on the same road.

Are your cars modified? I can only reach 130mph with my car and it takes forever to get up there. Only mod is an intake. If you have smaller diameter tires though, the numbers are totally off at that speed.

i don't know about the newer sentra's, but i used to have an 88 and it was a pile. god damn thing never did idle right, and i could barely get the piece a shit to do 90! Once it hit 65 it was slow as hell, but the fucker turned on a dime though.

I had an '89 hatchback when I was 16. Really fun car back then, but it was probably slow as hell. I did manage to do 105mph in it, before the rev limiter stopped me.

lucky bastard, my was a hatchback too. it was pretty snappy up to about 45. lol

How old were you when you had it? Slow cars feel fast when you just learn to drive ya know, so that may be the whole reason why it felt fast. But, I really did do 106 a few times. It burned and leaked oil like crazy, though.

I got an 89 Nissan sentra also, I got mine to do 230! I just added a 0-60 additive.

My dad bought a 87 Sentra Hatchback new and it ran like crap constantly. I dont know how he got 50 k miles on it in 13 years. He finnaly junked it because it had so many problems. The fastest he ever topped out was 75 mph when it was new and the whole entire car was shaken when he got it to 70.

Maybe I got the lucky Sentra.

all these stories of cars barely hitting 105 are pretty funny, my first car was a 91 eclipse gs. It was pretty slow but still could hit 110 fairly easily (it had a decent amount of power, it just weighed a ton, but when you're going that fast weight really doesn't mean anything). In my sentra I don't even hit my power in 5th until about 90 or so, then it pulls pretty nice up to 130

wow...that's amazing considering that i have a spec v and it cuts out at 122MPH in 6th gear at 4800rpms.

i have a 94 xe, and i got it up to like 115mph.. i think.. somewhere between 110-120.... but i was also on a slight slope so.... hah didnt take that long to get up to that speed...... and it still handled good at high speeds.. now its been in the shop for over 3 months at a nissan specialist and he still cant figure out what is wrong with it.. hmm...... anyways i have a 2002 saturn SC2 now, and it kicks my sentras ass... i got it almost up to 120 on a flat straight of way like 118.. somewhere in that area....... didnt handle nearly as good though... im also looking into buying a 95 subaru SVX l/l AWD... now those things kick some ass...

110-120 is too high going down a hill?...... i didnt seem to think so.. maybe my speedometer is off.. and i doubt the speedo on my saturn is off.. i bought it brand new... and havent messed with it or anything...
