could / should be #067....

Peloton25

Not sure what is giving you the impression of 067 - if it was the Oregon plate on the Porsche don't let that influence you. Oregon is one of the states people like to register their cars in for favorable tax purposes.

That looks to be a new car into the USA, fresh from McLaren with the protective covering on the dash and P-touch labeling on the quarter window. That location appears to be Wallace Labs perhaps? Anyway, it is going to be one of the spots that does our EPA certifications and 067 would have no need to be there.

It was the Oregon part on that site that drew my conclusion, specifically a post a few down from the 3 pictures containing the F1 stating the owner of the RS also in the picture was purchased and imported by a member of that site in Oregon - I didn't know Oregon had such a favourable Tax situation :)

Any more guesses?

No - 062 was also an Ameritech F1 so it doesn't need a visit to an EPA lab either.

Working off only the info that rattles around in my brain, that's going to be 066 then.

Well you were very close with your guess anyway, Greg. ;)

Wondered where this car would resurface. Going out on a limb a bit here - looks like 029 is at JK Technologies in Baltimore - missing some rear lights:

Hmm rare Porsche? Is that Clubsprot RS?
We have one of those in Finland (http://samiaal.kuvat.fi/kuvat/PORSCHE/1995+Porsche+911+Carrera+RS+Clubsport/).... More valuable than good Countach.

From the other thread, 016 was at the McLaren 50th gathering put together by McLaren HK. Not a bad couple of weeks for F1s getting some public exposure. :)

That is chassis 062.

Was hoping since we hadn't seen it in a while that perhaps the owner had followed through on his plans to make it more unique through the services of MSO. Perhaps he decided that there was more value in preserving the originality?

I've never been able to determine that. I'm also doubtful he had it here in the USA.

Reference this quote I found long ago here (http://babblers.org/showthread.php?t=2381):

"I recall Tom Perkins (of Kleiner Perkins) writing a letter to Road & Track about the "mishap" he experienced in driving his new F-1 home from the factory. "Home" in this case means an estate in England, and I don't think the car ever made it to the U.S."

Yes, 13 days shy of exactly 11 years ago.

Petrik owned chassis 045 and 067 - bringing them into the USA as Ameritech F1s with the help of Dick Fritz at Amerispec Corp in the late 1990s. He didn't keep both cars for more than a couple of years though. Chassis 045 was in SoCal at Newport Autosport in August of 2000 and I believe prior to that had been for sale through Motorcars Intl in Springfield, MO. Chassis 067 was sold by a Florida dealer to Elon Musk sometime in 1999 if I recall correctly.

Sort of funny how the headline for that article is referring to 'Show or Display' legislation, but that isn't the method that was used to import those two cars or the EB110 SS he owned. His Jaguar XJ220 and CLK-GTR did though.

I've just received an email stating Ralph Lauren will be the honored collector at this years Lime Rock Historic Festival on Labor Day weekend and he will be bringing "some" of his collection. Now I have nothing but a huge hope to go on at this point with regards to what he'll bring, but there's a chance at least one of his F1s will be brought along, hopefully LM3.

Peloton25
11-29-2014, 11:05 PM
Tom Price sold chassis 028 in a trade earlier this year to purchase a classic Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa. The F1 was one of a few cars that were included and was valued in the deal somewhere between $9-10M. The new owner in the UK paid over £6M to purchase it.

Chassis #031 had a pre-sale estimate of $12-14M. Bidding reached $10.75M during the auction and the car did not sell, as a minimum bid of $11M was needed to clear the Reserve price.
