Recap of the North American F1 fleet

I've never seen one, still live in hope and have plenty more life left in me to see one. I'm only 22 after all.
Hopefully I'll make it down to Goodwood for the FOS or something soon, there's usually an F1 to be found there. Just a shame it's right at the bottom of the country and I'm in the north west. I should probably make the effort though.
Regardless, the effort of people on here to document the cars and to get pictures of them means I don't dwell on the fact I haven't seen one. Constantly amazed at the findings on here and it more than keeps me entertained.

The Oregon car is #067. It's actually owned by a gentleman from Minnesota, but he must have a home there in Oregon as not only is the car registered there, but he also showed it the year after he purchased it at the Sun River Festival of Cars in Bend and again this year.
Some small pics of it can be seen here (http://www.oregonfestivalofcars.com/photos08.php) at the 2008 show and on the road. New pics from 2012 are here (http://www.oregonfestivalofcars.com/photos12.php).
I used to think the car was kept in storage in California, but I have since learned it's kept at a place there in Bend.

Sure is an HDF, you can see the wing supports/brake cooling ducts when you zoom in. So if there are no other clones, its #073 in for either a tank change or major engine service work, or etc etc. fill what you like with an engine out :uhoh:.
Service life for the Premier tank was five years, not sure if this figure is extended on the new type ATL tank replacement.

Seems as though you'd want to schedule as much "engine out" repairs and maintenance at the same time.

They were - and shared on Instagram, which might give someone the impression they were fresh shots, but instead they were images from Dec 2005. I tried commenting twice on one of the photos to clear up the confusion and the account holder deleted my comment each time. :uhoh: Then Nicob replied and the same thing occurred. :thumbsdow
If I'd known exactly what Henry was referring to I could have cleared this up when I saw his post and saved us all the guesswork.
Here are the pics from the SVAG showroom taken very shortly after the F1 arrived there which will look familiar to some here:

A bit of a non-update. I was at COTA last weekend for the MotoGP and a track employee was mentioning during a paddock tour some of the cars (and their owners) who showed up in town and at the track during the F1 race. I asked him specifically if he remembered seeing this F1 and might know who owned it. Alas, he doesn't think it showed up at the track during the event but did remember people mentioning seeing it downtown. So still a mystery.

It's not yellow - that's just a light reflection. We've covered it many times here, but it is a small metallic plaque that reads "Special Order Car by Andretti" which I would be willing to bet was added by the car's second owner in Japan. This car originally belonged to Michael Andretti.

Probably not the right reason for the change but a possible one is that certain tyre sizes go out of fashion and cease to be manufactured. I believe though not 100% certain that this is the case with certain tyres used by various versions of the F1 and that they are no longer generally available unless supplied through McLaren themselves. So possibly the owner decided to source his tyres locally and had to accept the nearest size available. Strange but not impossible.
hurstg01
06-19-2013, 09:10 AM
That's what at least 1 other owner has done - sourced alternate tyres [that fit the Enzo] from elsewhere and had new wheels manufactured, still in the same style of the F1 road car, to have the ability to source tyres easier [and possibly cheaper] especially if the car is abroad

And that example is very well documented, I also think that the lower profile will also have been a factor in the decision.

Its storage facility has an expansion under construction right now, I wondered if they had to move the cars around. Any context to this? A chance I might see it before it's spirited away again?

Hey Erik — been a while! I'll be at Monterey this weekend and I should be attending everything this time. Looking forward to meeting you, hopefully, and I'll be on the lookout to see if you have any Monterey F1 announcements to make. :grinyes:

I hope you aren't there "this weekend" as you won't see very much. ;)
Anyway, I expect there to be some news very shortly - maybe as early as this week? We will definitely have to try and meet up somewhere along the way.

Haha, of course! That weekend, not this weekend. Anyway, I've been really enjoying your Instagram activity, it's a great outlet to reach different people with amazing McLaren info and pics!
