Just a quick question, why is the cross brace in 028 silver? In a lot of F1 it is usually gold like in this picture:

http://www.whatonemillionbuys.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/mclaren-f1-1997-engine-compartment.jpg

028 is probably my favorite road car. I have noticed however it could use some TLC in regards to the paint and interior. I guess that's a good sign meaning it gets driven. :)

Actually half of those were taken in Germany before it ever came to the USA.

Where did you find these? I know where they came from, but the person who had them was going to share them here himself I thought?

I moved one of the shots and then put a dividing line in your post between the ones taken at Motorcars Intl and the ones from earlier in this car's life while still in Germany.

Credit for sharing them goes to my friend Michael McCord - aka the vsixdesign guy (http://customize.org/McLarenF1LM/gallery).

In my never-ending quest for all that is the McLaren F1 I have found something AMAZING this evening - I am literally doing a happy dance over here. :lol2:

In several cases I thought stuff like this was lost to history and likely never to be seen, but here are a pair of images of Lawrence Stroll's F1 road car taken in 1997 at Mont Tremblant and still seen wearing its original blue paint. :yikes: :bigthumb:

http://i49.tinypic.com/a23nmf.jpg

http://i48.tinypic.com/2ni19pf.jpg

According to my Canadian friend, that is a Quebec plate on the car which is very interesting considering what we know about the their vehicle importation laws being very strict. I still can't give up the chassis number of this one but I have a feeling with this detail most who care can now figure it out for themselves.

Thankfully there were some details included with the photos that made it clear whose car this was, otherwise I might have been fairly confused. The craziest part of all is that these images have been online since 2003 - how could they have been missed for so long? Google's algorithms must be getting better I guess. :D Does make you wonder what else is out there still to be uncovered. There are a few other cars it would be nice to have original content on - #023 for sure, #046 as well, and more of #073 would be nice too. Finding something like this gives me hope that eventually we'll get lucky with them.

It is a shot in the dark, but I'm going to see if the source on these can send me larger versions or any other shots he may have snapped - that's if I can figure out how to reach him. For now enjoy those postcard-sized shots. :)

Hey, the bottom of his front bumper is misaligned...

I think it is a very thin skid plate - wrapping around the corners where you might scrape the underside on a driveway entrance.

There was also one which ran the full length of the underside of 10R's front splitter that came off and was dragging thanks to an unfriendly speed bump that found its way into the Italy F1 Tour route. That's what the McLaren boys are seen here fussing with.

I do think this is a bit funny that there are a handful of people in this picture and all of them are clearly mesmerized by something else and have their backs to the F1. Not too many shots like that. Makes you wonder just what that could have been with an F1 sitting there. :D

Understandable, then. I actually think it's neat; it looks like this car is really driven a lot. Any idea of the current mileage on it? I'm guessing in the 20-30K range, which brings up another interesting thing: how amazing it is that the paint on this car (and F1s in general) has held up so well over the years.

Are you talking about #036 or #10R?

If #036, it had 1,900 miles on it when it came to the USA in 2006 and when I saw it last August it was right around 10,000 miles.

No clue on the mileage of 10R, but it did get a respray in 2009 after an unfortunate incident in the hands of a journalist.

Not in those photos. ;)

I don't really know. Some early rumors suggested it would be headed for Houston. There's also talk of Irvine, CA. I haven't seen it appear anywhere since Italy. :dunno:

I have not good eyes. Someone can read the plate on Stroll's car ?
I think about put #052 on the registry. It's the only possibility for me.

Jay sharing his F1,

http://jonbetancourt.smugmug.com/Cars/British-Marques/McLaren/23774974_GtnHFK#!i=1925928330&k=TtpVDPC

Long time since I,ve seen this car :frown: ........

This is not a boast by any stretch of the imagination, but I had a quick count up of all the F1,s that I have seen, got to fifty one and stopped counting as there have been cars that I did not know the chassis #, if I had the pleasure of going to Italy for the F1 owners tour, that figure would have increased by exactly ten more :runaround:...... not bad going for somebody who does not really go out of his way to see an F1 :).

What I do feel sorry for, are those unfortunate people who have never ever seen an F1, or have any real chance of seeing one. Every time that I do get to view an F1 I,m allways extremely greatfull for the opportunity :).

Anyone is privilged when they see an F1. They are so scarce, rare and expensive it sometimes boils down to pure luck to see one. We are very fortunate living in the UK to see a lot of them; same goes to the USA although the vastness of the country may mean the logistics of seeing one may be too much in both time and cost.

If those fortunate enough to see an F1, in any guise, should share the find for those less fortunate, as long as they are allowed to share the pictures....
